Figured I would try to start completing the UNSC loadout commendation. Got destroyed by DMR users.
Honestly I just give up. I keep trying and trying to like this game. It would probably be easier to get away from it if I didn’t buy the season pass but I did like a dummy.
This game flatout cannot be played without using a DMR. It’s unbalanced, broken, boring, hot garbage. There is no other way to put it. No TU will fix this because 343 is not gonna completely overhaul the multiplayer.
At least in CoD you can use any weapon you want and still have a chance because they have a formula in place that works for this style of game. It can handle lots of different loadouts and play styles.
Halo was not made to be played like that. You can’t run around with an AR in this game without getting smoked. You can’t win a battle with a BR against a DMR unless the connection is the reason why. This game is bad because you can’t play it how you want and I’m sorry but it’s not fun to get destroyed because I don’t like using a DMR all the time.
Should have got the hint when everyone last Summer/Fall was saying that the DMR was the closest thing to the CE pistol. After all, CE only had 1 precision weapon…
The only situations I’ve seen a DMR out perform a BR is in cross-map accuracy, which makes sense. A 3 round burst weapon would be less accurate than a single shot marksman rifle at long range. I’ve been primarily using the BR since I maxed out the DMR and often outperformed most of the DMR users is slayer gametypes, even playing SWAT on Complex, which has the longest open field distances in the playlist.
On a different note, I find it more than a little laughable that anyone in their right mind would say that CoD has a more balanced loadout system that Halo.
I do use the BR/Magnum loadout all the time. Even though I do well with it, anybody can use the DMR and do exceptionally good with it because it can do much more than any other of the primaries. DMR is just a handicap for casuals.
I just went 23 and 6 using the BR and Pistol. You have to be sneaky and get the drop on people, as well as know how to use the environment to your advantage. You’ve basically got to play like a trickster. I use invisibility, ammo, and aa efficiency. Just keep trying and you’ll get it.
I am most definitely not among the best players out there when it comes to Halo, but I was able to integrate the BR into my loadouts for Infinity Slayer with some success. I saw my K/D ratio rise from 0.90 [with about 3600/4000] to its current 1.06 [6166/5942 as of this writing] after adding a couple of BR loadouts.
The reason? I found that my role in Halo 4 became much more flexible. I could now adapt to maps and game variants much easier than when I was using the DMR in 4 of my 5 loadouts [LightRifle was #5]. It takes knowing what the map, the gametype, and most importantly your team needs you to do in order to win.
I’m not claiming I am a great player now. I have a lot more to learn before I can consider myself a good Halo 4 player, let alone a great one. However, being able to adapt makes you a better player than just trying to do one and only one thing from match to match.
This really is not about skill guys. This is his take on the balance in halo 4 and quite frankly I agree with him. The dmr just seems to excel at everything for me. I blame its hitscan mechanic. I have preformed test on the dmr vs other starters and the dmr is indeed hitscan which can give it a edge over the non hitscan weapons such as the ar, br, storm rifle, etc.
> it really took you 3 months to realize how unbalanced the weapons are:P?
> just play an other game… 343 does nothing but lie, i wouldnt expect them do actually do anything
Yes its the truth. Then they cover there blam! by deleting the articles. They just take there 3 week long vacations and leave skeletal crews to man the server maintenance. A sandbox TU is typically the highest priority among game devs and is released within the first month.
I want to love this game but I no longer play wargames and only come back to play Spartan ops and campaign. The only parts that don’t make me regret buying the limited edition.

So true. They kept telling us how this game was in good hands and they were going back to the Halo roots only to sell us a $60 beta. At least we know why they didn’t have a beta before release because then a lot of people wouldn’t have bought this broken game.
BR works fine for me. If you’re struggling, try Promethean Vision/BR/Frag Grenades as a combo, scan corners, pop a frag out and lower their shields, then hit them with a quick burst or two.
My favorite weapon is the Battle Rifle and I consistently outperform DMR users. The main tip I would give you is to learn to distinguish when you’re fighting a DMR user on your terms and when it’s on their terms. If you battle them on their terms, you’re almost always going to lose. If it’s on your terms, you’ll have a fair chance of beating them. The main dictator between their terms and your terms is cover. If you’ve got good cover and a decent strafe, it’s not hard at all to take out a DMR. Especially if you get the first shot in.
It’ll also pay to learn how to lay those frags at the feet of your adversaries before the engagement proper is underway. This will have you going in with a clear advantage. So will learning how to jump and move, yet also shoot accurately at the same time (I’d switch to Bumper Jumper for this).
The DMR is not as overpowered as most people claim it is. Either that or I go up against people who are horrible with it. But I almost never have a problem beating DMR users with my Battle Rifle consistently. Check my stats, they’ll tell you what you need to know.
