Hi everyone I finally decided to go back and finish halo wars 2. Just captured the elevator to the cartographer and once I got to the mission complete screen it cut to a cut scene.
The opening cinematic and I lost all my save.
I find these games quite hard to play and halo wars 2 console layout makes it more frustrating than most in the genre.
Is this common?
Can I get my save back?
Honestly losing progress like this usually ends my experience with a game for good and I’m really annoyed.
I thought the game would have been patched up enough to avoid this kind of game ending bug.
But at the same time the install wasn’t a short wait for me either so the waste of it all has me really hoping I can at least retrieve a save from cloud starting with the mission I just completed.
Any help would be appreciated.

Restart the game and see if it resyncs would be my only advice.
the only possible explanation I have would be if your older save was very old and had compatibility issues with a newer update

I tried that and you are correct about that save.
Second save i made fresh had an identical issue.
Also had several crashes.
My experience with the game has been substantially worse than my 2077 launch experience.
That said I like it enough to keep coming back and playing it on easy now so I don’t worry about the progress loses that much. Wish it was less tutorial and more open like total war or AoE though.
Its been stable no crashes since I got to the mid game blur scene.

Glad it partially worked and sorry to hear you’ve had issues. I put over 300 hours into the game over 8 months and absolutely loved it

Thats how bugs are i guess. I managed to put several hundreds of hours into elderscrolls 3 4 and 5 and not get a bug so it was bound to get me some time.
Great game loving it already got awaken the nightmare installed had they added a free form conquest mode where you take over the ring id be playing it for months id imagine. Its helping me cope that AoE2hd hasn’t got an xbox series port for sure.
