So I had posted a while back that I thought weapon attachments for being a good addition to Halo a lot of people disagreed with me what’s I don’t understand because those same people seem to be fine with them completely replacing the Magnum with a new pistol it’s not a bad design but it’s not the Magnum anyway there was a video I saw where someone had an idea for a attachment that would allow the shotgun to fire slugs which I think would be a great idea since we know we’re not going to have weapon attachments I think different ammo types would be a nice addition I know Halo infinite will come out soon but they can always add those later with an update the different ammo types I would put in the game would stay out of PVP for balance reasons
First, here’s a bunch of punctuation:
…,???
please put these ANYWHERE in your post
second, weapon attachments don’t make any sense for halo, because a foundational part of halo’s gameplay is Equal Starts
as for different ammo types, another foundational part of halo is that you know what weapons the enemy you’re looking at has. If you expect to easily pick off the guy with the shotgun and gravity hammer at range and then he nails you in the head with a slug, that’s not going to be very satisfying.
also, slugs are not very conducive to shooters anyways. Using a slug in a shotgun eliminates what makes shotguns unique: a spray of pellets. If you give a shotgun a slug it turns into a ghetto sniper rifle. Just look at the KSG from Black Ops 2, one of the most hated weapons in the game because it consistently killed from long-range in one headshot and had unnecessarily good hip-fire accuracy. This is all because it uses a slug.
Rather than different ammo types or attachments, the general sentiment here is that every weapon should be wholly unique and Unchangeable. So 4atheexrhan giving the option for slugs on a shotgun, we are more likely to prefer an entirely different shotgun that fires slugs while leaving the standard shotgun alone firing regular ammo.
Halo comes from the age of arena shooters, and a big element of that genre is unique weapons that each fill unique and consistent roles. Adding variation to individual weapons means those roles get muddied. You 2ant weapons to function the same way every time, and be easily identifiable by other players on what to expect when you see the enemy with them. Instead, turning different concepts into different weapons is the preferred solution, and preferably little to no weapons occupying the same space in the sandbox. So a shotgun that shoots slugs could work, but it would be better as a separate shotgun entirely than as a variant of the regular shotgun.
im totally fine with halo not having attachments, i think the guns by themselves are fine the way they are. Its just simplicity that matters.
Again, needlessly trying to complicate Halo’s gameplay. I don’t understand you guys. Halo doesn’t need attachments or ammo types, it’s an arena shooter. So each weapon has a distinct role and allowing players to tune them to their own liking completely undermines that basic design philosophy.

Well if there not going to give us weapon attachments or different ammo types then increase the ammo so it is not so pathetic

That’s part of the game and challenges players to use different weapons and adapt.
Having a huge pool of ammo for weapons means you’re never incentivised to actually go use another weapon. You lock yourself into one form of play style and stay in a safety net. If you want a easy game then play on easy difficulty.
Lower ammo counts encourages you to look for ammo and switch weapons out. This keeps combat fresh as your not just sitting back picking enemies off with 50 sniper rounds.
I feel like the attachments, the ammo types etc it’s just muddying the sandbox for no reason as half of goes unused anyway - when was the last time anyone actually used the Knight Blade or Laser Targeter attachment in Halo 5?
Different weapons shoot different types of ammo. UNSC have bullets, Covenant have plasma. There’s even glimpses of a hun that shoots electricity too. Each serve their own purpose.
Adding more stuff doesn’t always make things better.

Call of Duty: Halo
If Halo is going to have weapon attachments, I think the best way to do it would be to restrict it to PvE modes so that it has no effect on competition or fair starts. Or if 343 adds a massive mode, like 24v24 or larger, they could have all weapon attachments available at the start so people can pick their playstyle.

When it comes to weapons added stuff usually makes the weapons better

Don’t forget about Campaign, Firefight, Custom games… There’s more to Halo than just Competitive Arena. Yes, the Equal Starts philosophy is critical to that and I would not want to see that compromised, but again remember that every feature left out or tweak being made in the name of balancing for competitive is a dozen things left out for the Custom Games side of the box, and for alternative game modes (Firefight, Warzone, etc).
Would I like to see some of these things in Halo? Sure why not. Would I want to see them in Arena Slayer, and so forth? Absolutely no.
Alternate Ammo types though feels to me like something best suited for a spin-off even with all that said.

This 100%. Though I’d add some social stuff like Action Sack into that as well.

Okay first off even if I have an abundance of ammo I’m still going to use all the weapons in the game to mix things up a little bit so it doesn’t matter whether I have a lot of animal or not secondly I thought Sheila was supposed to be a first person shooter not a scavenger hunt that’s something kids do on Easter and we’re not little kids anymore and if the flood return in Halo infinite I would like to have a shotgun that doesn’t suck and that can hold more than 5 rounds at a time I a standard out of shape human being can carry more then 15 or 20 extra shotgun shells and we have guns and now I’m days they can hold more than five rounds

you know… this isn’t cod… actually even cod doesn’t have that much ammo on weapons… I don’t know how you expect to play against a sniper for example if he just camps at the same spot all game without having to move to get more ammo…
The only attachments I would be fine with within Halo are sights on BR, DMR, or Sniper Rifles. There are different preferences to what kind of scope people like to use, and if the zoom level is the same there would be no impact on gameplay. Anything else would impact the sandbox negatively.

Agreed 100%

So you all must like weak weak weak weak weak weapons that can only hold 2 rounds you you can only carry 6 extra Halo is not the same the first and second was the best Halo has gone down hill with story how much ammo your weapons can hold and how much extra you can carry I no longer feel like a super soldier

The reason most Halo players have a problem with attachments is that it disturbes the sandbox. Think of weapons in Halo more as tools for specific jobs. Now I do agree that some weapons kind of need a little boost, but the system is still the foundation on which Halo’s MP is build. With attachments you could potentially turn weapons in to something they aren’t meant to be.
The (Bungie) Assault Rifle is a great example. I recently opened a thread to grasp if people prefer it to be a tool to knock shields out, or a weapon to kill with. Most seem to prefer it as a tool. I personally would like it to be just a little bit stronger, since it really feels like a peashooter. But I understand that in turn, it might make another weapon redundant.
Definitely not. The key element with Halo is how equal the fights are, it’s none of the bs “create a Loadout with a bunch of attachments that can lead to more annoying nerfs/buffs”, same with ammo types. it’s one of the reasons Halo is so enjoyable. if I die, I know it’s my fault because I wasn’t fast enough to get the better weapon or my aim sucks. not because some random person has figured out some ultra OP weapon attachment setup. definitely would be a horrible idea for Halo.
