So, I Got To Play The Xbox One Today!

So guys, I was at a gaming event in canada today, and I really wasn’t expecting Xbox One to be at the event, due to gamescom being on and all, and PAX right around the corner, but this event is technically considered Canada’s E3. I was very surprised to see that both Xbox One, and PS4 were both at the convention. I first went to the Playstation booth, but I lost interest when I discovered that there was only about 2 games, and that they were not even playing on the consoles, but rather a PC. Also when I wen’t to interview one of their representatives about the PS4, I asked a question about their stance on the HDCP, and if there going to change it, I was responded with “We are very satisfied with the way our console is heading, and that’s all I can say”. I immediately left and went to the EB games booth to play Wolfenstein: The New Order, which feels awesome and can’t wait to play, then onto the Xbox booth. They were demonstrating Forza 5, Ryse and Killer Instinct, and I got an exclusive access demo of Forza 5. Although I can’t say anything about the exclusive access demo i was shown, I am able to talk about the public demo I played. Now, Forza 5 is awesome, and by far the best game I played, as it had the “impulse triggers” turned on. The Impulse Triggers are AWESOME! They really do enhance the experience, and when I was playing Forza, I really wasn’t used to it. I would often see my fingers jolt off the triggers in response, since my hands are not used to it. Although by the end of the demo I was completely fine with it, and it really enhanced the experience. The Forza 5 demo was graphically amazing, and is the forza game you know and love.

Now I’ll talk about the controller. The controller does have over 40 improvements to it, but as expected, it isn’t an exact 360 model redo. It does feel a little bit different than the 360’s and again it takes a little getting used to, but by the end of the day, I was once again, unaffected by it, and it was the controller you know and love. Killer Instinct is also awesome, there were many combos to perform, and the game was very fun. Although it is still just a fighting game, it was really fun. The amount of combos you could do was phenomenal, and you really do have to keep up with the fast pace of the game. The last game I demoed was Ryse, the game I was most spectacle about. All my worries were gone once I started to play it. I was playing two player co-op on the coliseum, the new game mode that was recently announced at gamescom. There is a lot of things going on. One of the coolest thing is the amusement factor, since there is an audience watching you in the game, if you aren’t killing enough people, the audience will get unamused, and results in more enemies coming at you, making the game harder, and ultimately, maybe losing the game. You can lose in coliseum, you only have one life, and if you die, your out, unless your teammate can get to you in time to revive you. Also the big one for me, QTE’s are completely optional, although with all the speculation, I ended up using the QTE’s more often then not, due to faster killing times, and keeping the audience amused. After the demo was done, I am sold on this game and can’t wait for its release.

Before playing the Xbox One, I had a lot of speculation about the deivce, almost worries and was unsold on next gen. Now I cant wait for its release, and really was a selling feature for me. I can not wait for its November release, and recommend everyone to buy this device day one!

Sorry about bad picture quality, I wasn’t expecting this to be at the event so I didn’t bring a real camera.

Yeah man, how did you know?

That’s so cool :3

Wow! Very lucky - I’m looking forward to Forza 5

Wow,that’s awesome! I hope they revel a release date soon. I can’t wait to get my hands on Forza 5, Titan Fall, and of course Halo Xbox One. I’m glad to hear that you liked it.

Very cool, thanks for the recap, Im totally jealous.

Is the Xboxone controler heavy like the 360?

I wouldn’t say that the Xbox 360 Controller is “Heavy” but the Xbox One controller feels about the exact same weight as the 360, maybe even a little heavier than the 360 controller, although it did feel very slightly, a bit smaller, but I think that’s due to the huge battery pack being gone. Sorry I didn’t bring a scale with me XD

Should I get one right now, or should I wait till halo 5?

Honestly, I was telling people this earlier, this is my recommendation though.

Buy the Day One edition and then, if you want, buy the Halo 6 limited edition xbox, for many reasons. 1. The Halo 5 console is going to be the exact same as the day one edition, except it is halo 5 themed. It will most likely be priced more than the regular consoles, maybe priced up to $200 extra, which isn’t really worth it at that point. Also, Halo 5 could be just as bad as Halo 4, and after being someone such as I, who bought a crap ton of Halo 4 stuff, including the limited edition console and game, I’m not as obligant to do so this time. Yes, the console will most likely come with limited edition content, but the codes it gives you can be purchased online, such as ebay, for cheap, if you really want them. Also, the limited edition controllers you get with the console are also sold separately as well, Either way, there is no way of telling if a Halo 5 Xbox exists, and is all off speculation, so you really shouldn’t be basing your decisions off something that doesn’t even exist yet. Also, by the time the Halo 6 Xbox comes out(if it comes out) There will most likely by that time, be a slim model of the xbox one, and in that newer model, all the problems in the previous model will hopefully be gone, and they may have fixed other things such as no mandatory installs and add removable hard rives, and there not doing that with the Xbox One now due to the whole DRM backlash and adding those things would require a whole redesign and redo of the console. Also, by that point, there will most likely be a price drop on the console, meaning it is cheaper to purchase.

So my opinion, everyone buy the Day One console, and in the future, if you want to upgrade, buy the Halo 6 Xbox One.

k, thanks.

I’m surprised that there hasn’t been a lot of coverage on this expo as far as I have seen. All I see is gamescon

Yeah no problem, IDK if you were talking about getting the Xbox One at a later date, or if you wanted to wait for Halo 5 Xbox, so I just assumed you were talking about the Halo 5 Xbox, since that’s what everyone’s talking about on the forums.

I’ve been going there for a few years now, and the press usually never cover it (except for machinima and G4 used to cover it a -Yoink- ton but now there gone). Its really more suited towards the consumer, rather than press, although there is a press only day, and Microsoft showed the press a secret game demo there so I have no idea what that is. Although its really the only place in Canada for develpoers to show-off their games, like last year, we got to play Halo 4. But this event keeps getting bigger and bigger, especially the gaming, like the evolution from last years fan expo is extraordinary, but that could just be because of next gen consoles being right around the corner, and as I said, its really the only place in Canada were they can go and show-off all their games. I wouldn’t be surprised if in a few years from now, if this event is as big as PAX.

You lucky dog, you.

Anyways, thanks for sharing!

It’s nice to hear good things about this console.

Thank you!

Yeah, it is truly an amazing console, everything is in 60 frames, its sooo much different. I forgot to add that I also got to play a demo for South Park: the stick of truth, and its honestly the funniest game I’ve played in my entire life.
