So, I got my specialization code

However, it wasn’t sent to me. It was actually sent to a friend of mine who recovered/downloaded his gamertag on my console last week.

Why is this weird? Because he never played Halo online. His gamertag is an Xbox Live Silver account, and I’m willing to post both of our gamertags as proof.

What happened was we played Resident Evil 5 for a bit, then switched to Halo 4 but while in the menus he reminded me that he doesn’t have Gold, so he switched to a guest account so we could play.

His gamertag never participated in Halo 4 online play, the furthest his tag got was the menu, so I would at least like speculation (I figure an explanation from a legitimate source is probably not going to happen) as to why the specialization code for my copy of Halo 4 went to him, instead? Again, I can post our gamertags: He never played any Halo 4, I did, but EmeraldRevolver got a specialization code, most likely because he was on my Xbox last week because I can think of no explanation as to how he got one but I got none but he has 0 hours of multiplayer done.

So, yeah, the code was sent out. However, it was not sent to me. To anyone else who had someone recover/download a gamertag on their console last week, ask that person if they got a message from Xbox Live because it may have been sent to someone else instead of you.

Again, this is not a complaint thread, this is not a glitch nor a workaround. My code was legitimately sent to the wrong person, and this information could help someone else who was in my same position.

No, seriously, this makes no sense to me and I really would like some input on how something like this was screwed up

Again, hoping for speculation or maybe an official word on how this kind of mixup occurred

No explanation except for the fact that That is really messed up

Well, yeah, it is messed up. This also explains how some people on GameFAQs got the email, but then the Xbox Live messages went to their friend’s gamertags

It doesn’t make any sense, and it’s hardly 343 or the admins of this site’s fault, but I cannot fathom why they couldn’t just say, “Microsoft screwed up and it’s out of our hands, guys” instead of blatantly ignoring fans, being generally rude and unhelpful, etc.?

So, this just got even more stupid:

I didn’t get an email, I didn’t get the first XBL message, but I did, however, get a message from Xbox Live last night saying that they’ve noticed I haven’t redeemed my specialization code.

I received this last night at 10:18 PM, EST. This is well after the moderators who constantly locked threads were posting, saying, “The codes have all been sent out” last week.

So, I now have a specialization code for whoever wants it. I do not want to trade, I want to PM this to someone who needs it. Whether you’re in the US and didn’t get a code, or are in Europe and can’t progress because, well, I don’t know why this special event wasn’t extended to Europe, I now have a spare code that I want to give away that I obtained for some unfathomable reason.

This whole situation has been a gigantic mess. Why will no one official say a word about it?

I just got mine!!

So I’m not the only one who had theirs come in the last 24 hours?

That’s good, maybe someone realized there was a mistake and sent the codes out.

Here’s a screenshot of the message, note the date and time:

So, again, willing to give this to anyone who wants it.

Do you still have the code?
