Played a game of halo 2 classic today and got “host booted”. Not going to lie, this isn’t the nostalgia I was looking for. I will not post his gamertag, but request an administrator direct messages me. I have a 30 second clip showing it happen, plus the guys name is even the method he used to cheat…I believe he used the ddos method as my friends and I could not play anything for a few minutes. People like this deserve to have there Xbox banned.
Anyone else come across cheating like this in mcc, I have only been back for a week and seeing one implies many more.
I’ve had it happen to me before, but that was a long time ago. They’re currently working on making MCC run on dedicated servers so that won’t be an issue anymore. Only thing you can really do is just use the reporting system on them.

Yeah I did that, but I doubt it will result in anything since his name has a hard to identify spelling and he doesn’ show up in recent players due to the ddos. So I doubt people have been reporting him due to not being able to identify him.
Yes I’ve seen it in someone’s livestream. They were playing halo 3 and only kick one guy on the other team offline so it’s immediately unfair and eventually the rest quits

Pretty sure the same guy did it to me in doubles, when I seen his obvious gamertag I knew it was going to happen. Then when he wasn’ playing at the beginning made it more obvious. He got my team mate then played for a bit and I started winning so he boot me too. So lame and annoying

I don’t know the specifics, and even if I did, we’d be risking breaking the forum rules about discussing modding or hacking. The short version, however, is that when a game is hosted peer-to-peer, whoever is the host can use tools to capture the IP addresses of the other players. Once you have their IP address, you can do magical matrix things to them.

so this could also happen on the Xbox 360 halo games?

Yes, it was fairly common in fact. When MCC moves to 100% dedicated servers for matchmaking (hooray!), then this will no longer be possible. Though it should still be possible in custom games.
Not the nostalgia you were looking for but nostalgia none the less xD
if it was a ddos method then you and your friend’s internet should have gone down for a good 5-10 mins.
