So I attempted to play halo 4 tonight...

My friend and I searched big team in a group of two. This is how it went down:

-First match: We join a game in progress on ragnarok losing by 30+ kills with the opposing team occupying every vehicle. Right after my first spawn i die from a binary rifle in less than 3 seconds. We both quit out.

-Second math: We join in progress the same game that we just quit out of described above. Needless to say we quit again.

-Third match: We join in progress a game losing by 60+ kills on ragnarok. The opposing team has both mantis, a banshee, and a fully loaded hog. Not wanting to quit again we rough it out and manage to get a few kills.

-Fourth match: play a game of 4v4 infinity slayer where 3 people on the opposing team quit out, nobody joins in progress, and we are stuck killing one person for 12 minutes.

-Fifth match: We join in progress another game on ragnarok getting spawn killed and losing by 50+ kills. Needless to say, we end up quitting before even spawning in the match.

-sixth match: You guessed it, join in progress again in a ragnarok game losing by 49 kills with the opposing team in both mantis and both banshees with two snipers top mid. My friend, who is just getting back into halo 4 after loving halo 3 and hating reach, just quits out and calls it a night. Sadly I finish the game and stop playing as well.

So I started off the night trying to convince my friend that Halo 4 was fun and he should start playing more often, that went real well. This game with join in progress is just pathetic. I was a 34 in Halo 2, 50 in Halo 3, Onyx top 1% in Halo Reach. Myself and other longtime halo fans deserve better than what 343 is currently providing.

JIP is one of the few improvements 343i made with halo 4, sure it could always use some improvements but overall its a definite improvement over not having it whatsoever.

halo 4 has a plethora of issues but JIP isn`t one of them.

Ben I’m currently tracking my stats in regards to Joining in progress, I’ve tracked about 80 games so far and I can honestly say in those 80 games currently im sitting on 3 games Joined in progress. I’m aiming to get at least 250 games played and tally up the results. If what your saying is true then 1 of us is an outlier.

I had a bunch of fun Earlier. Even while playing spartan ops solo legendary. I got my first Kilimanjaro and I was having fun with people.

JIP is a nice feature that needs to be tweaked. That being said, if you’re sick of it, then finish one match to completion, then stay in the lobby afterwards. This will ensure you start the next match from the beginning.

The game is about set up and control. This factor is lost when joining in the middle of a game. No groove has been established with teammates and sometimes remains one sided. The only reason JiP was implemented was because all the up to date games have it, regardless of functionality or not, because players can’t wait 5 minutes between a match to get a full lobby. They want a game ASAP no matter the quality of the results.

Imagine a ranked system with JiP still implemented? lol It’s all about fun though, no matter how many losing matches you’re thrown into. That 50/50 chance of getting totally screwed over is exciting!

Thats what you get for playing Big Team

“JIP is one of the few improvements 343i made with halo 4, sure it could always use some improvements but overall its a definite improvement over not having it whatsoever”.

I prefer not having it, personally. Never minded being down teammates and I don’t like joining one in progress.

> halo 4 has a plethora of issues but JIP isn`t one of them.

JIP is an absolutely terrible system and shouldn’t be forced upon players. Not having an option to disable JIP is absolutely unacceptable. Maybe you enjoy joining games where you get constantly spawn killed over and over again, but i don’t. 343 has made MP much more frustrating then the past games by adding JIP, and that’s not even counting that half the maps are badly designed and unbalanced, that multiple starting weapons are OP and make certain maps almost unplayable, or that File Share doesn’t work, or that theater mode is now almost completely pointless, or the huge lack of playlist and custom games options.

Forge and Campaign are great, Spartan Ops is okay too, but matchmaking is almost completely broken and every day my interest in playing grows less and less.

JIP is a joke in this game, yesterday i was put in a Regicide game where the leader was on 235 points,

second game i was put in Slayer on the losing team with a 420 point loss,

again, another Slayer game with a 250 point loss,

wtf is the point in being placed in games where there is a very very slim to no chance of winning or the game is just about to end??

I’m really getting fed up with the game in general as all the little issues are just making it no fun anymore, and i’m playing out of habit rather than fun as i’m finding myself having 4 or 5 games and i’ve absolutely had enough of it and switch off the xbox!!

First of all, nobody cares what rank you were in the previous games. It means nothing and it doesn’t make your opinion any more valid than what it would normally be. Stop being so deluded.

As for the whole “deserve” thing. You purchased Halo 4 of your own free will. You deserve nothing but what you’ve payed for.

Your exactly right he payed 60 dollars for a brand new Halo game that had a great Campaign, a good Forge mode, and then completely broken and bare multiplayer with a mediocre replacement for Firefight, a broken File Share system, and a near useless theater mode. He payed 60 dollars and didn’t get nearly what he deserves, and neither did anybody who bought the limited edition or stood in line for hours to get their copy of what they thought was going to be a great start to the new Halo trilogy.

Where’s your response to the topic at hand? At least the poster you’re attacking addressed the topic.

JiP being implemented leaves a lot more situations to chance rather than equal ground. As do other elements that have been implemented.

like I said JIP could always use some improvements, the whole idea of you being allowed to turn it off is something I agree with.

I see why people find it so frustrating but at the same time they always look at it in a very limited point of view, instead of looking at it from YOUR point of view look at it from someone else`s perspective for once.

its funny how awful you make the MP out to be but at the same time you praise the forge and campaign, doesnt that seem a little weird to you? its as if youve never played a halo campaign in your entire life.

like I said before halo 4 has many issues (in fact some of them you pointed out) however complaining about such insignifigant things will do no-one any good.

GOW3 had a very similiar circumstance where the sawed-off and retro were complained about so much that a lot of the REAL issues were never addressed.

I think 90% of the time when you join in progress you are in the losing team.We all know thta it needs a tweak but how could it be fixed? I really don’t know what would make JIP less frustrating.

I have completed every single Halo campaign multiple times (except for Halo 2 unfortunately) so im well aware of what makes a Halo campaign good. The reason i praise Forge and Campaign is because they are both great experiences and obviously had lots of time put into the both of them. MP is really bad and feels like it was quickly tacked on without any intention of supporting it, that alongside with the just outright bad decisions 343 has made such as ignoring it’s fanbase make it even worse.

Also i played Gears 3 a ton and the only thing wrong with that game was that it wasn’t supported at all by Epic besides nerfing the SO and moving some weapons around on maps to reduce camping, which wasn’t nearly enough to keep people playing it.

One fix i suggest is to maybe restrict you to joining a JIP game if the score is 10-15% of the final win score, that way, at least you have a chance of clawing back a deficit and winning a game.
