So how do you feel about the Hydra?

it has the potential to be a serious death dealer, but it’s balanced by the fact that it needs to be scoped in order to be useful. Otherwise, it’s nearly impossible to land hits with the slow moving mini rockets…

IMO It’s effectiveness as a power weapon, is
severely muted by BR starts. The fact that EVERY potential target can descope you from across the map at any time renders this power weapon pretty limp… I’ve noticed that many don’t even bother fighting over it anymore.

I feel intrigued by its potential, and this continued trend of tying smart scope to the function of power weapons, but I fear we won’t be able to really judge it until we get it in a map with AR starts.

I’ve only used it twice but ive had 3-4 kills both times for very little effort.

Its very powerful but that is the point of it being a power weapon. Need to win it at the start if you want to get an early lead!

I feel its perfectly balanced. I will edit to explain, but yeah its a great addition.

It’s good against unaware targets, but I’ve found it pretty easy to evade, even with a locked on salvo.

It’s a power weapon. It kill things faster.

I love it.

I’m terrible with it and haven’t got a single kill with it yet so I’m not a fan. Maybe someday I’ll figure out how it works.

I thought it was supposed to work like the Plasma Launcher from Reach.

Found it works better as a Concussion Rifle or Brute Shot.

Everything in Halo 5 is so fast, it’s not really useful to include a weapon with a charging time…

Reach nade launcher >>> hydra

It’s a balanced weapon, the problem with that weap is that the map is really closed-combat so it doensn’t really do much…

The Pro Pipe was such an awesome and versatile (power?) weapon that actually had a learning curve.

it’s a more funner version of the plasma launcher.

The lock-on needs to be instantaneous and the rockets need to track far more accurately because of the enhanced mobility. As it is now I never want to use it because I know I can BR kill someone faster and more accurately. The rockets shouldn’t curve, they should fly straight. It’s far too easy to dodge. I’d rather use a Brute Shot or Reach Plasma Launcher.

Yeah, that’s why I feel like it would be a better power weapon if we weren’t stuck with BR starts. As it stands, everyone starts with a weapon that makes it useless…

Easily the most trash gun in halo 5 worthless^100
I mean what idiot invents a missile launcher with non-explosive missiles?

I do wish the lock on had a bit more range and the rockets had a bit more power

Upgraded variants in WZ are awesome. Normal version in arena, not so much. Arena maps have too many objects that obstruct the lock on and flight paths, even when arching.

The weapon at this point is pretty much garbage. Takes an 2/3rds clip to kill one person unless you get close range direct hits. The damage needs a major boost. These are rockets, and with their tiny blast radius, two good enemies infront of you and you have no chance with the hydra.

This thread is from January.

What the hell are you talking about? The hydra can be found on Eden at least… Maybe more iirc

Only works as a camp/sneak weapon.
