So how broken do you think forge will be when its out

lol at this point it’s all we can think I reckon. It will be unfinished, require microtransactions and quite frustratingly for those that work hard at creating great things with these tools, unnecessarily online only

Being offline is quite an important one because creators want to be able to access their stuff at all times but also down the line when perhaps the systems in place are no longer there. It’s why I didn’t bother with Halo 5 Forge

Yeah so I’m not expecting anything positive with it. Who knows though perhaps they’ll throw us a bone

I’d actually just prefer it if they allowed us to purchase it outright to allow including offline play but we all know 343 have no say here

yes free as in you have to be online to access it unlike previous versions meaning it was troublesome and potentially very bad for those that wish to access their creations many years down the line. People also didn’t think 343 would take Halo Infinite campaign away from those that play offline but they sure did that

I’m just curious if they’re gonna have more maps when it drops, I can only imagine there’s so much to work with on a map like streets.

It’ll be completely unusable if 343’s Infinite track record remains consistent.

No thanks, I’ll go back to Reach for default gray. Also a better Forge.

Forge will not be offline in any way. Should’ve tried out the Halo 5 forge was and still is amazing. Halo 5 isn’t like Halo 3 where it’s THAT old. I don’t think they will be shutting it down or at all for that matter

I would like to point out that the team that is designing Forge in Halo Infinite (Certain Affinity and Skybox Labs) is the same team that designed Halo 5’s Forge mode.

Given Certain Affinity’s near flawless track record and how well Skybox performed, I am certain that they will do what they can to keep bugs to an absolute minimum.

@DeadCassette, no server lasts forever. That’s something people will slowly learn the hard way. Without ports, 90% of Halo 5 is doomed to be lost one day.

It’s already ported to PC. It just doesn’t have multiplayer. On top of that if we have MCC there’s no reason why Halo 5 servers would go away. So far no Halo experience has disappeared yet except for Halo 2 and 3 orginal titles which are on MCC anyways so no need to keep those open

They will fix that by season 8, until then I recommend passing the time in the shop where you can spend money effortlessly. If that payment system went down you best believe there would be a hitfix within the hour, not this, “season 2!” Bullcrap. We deserve better than this. This is unacceptable.

Hotfix*

I’m not one of those constant negative people when it comes to Halo, but I’m afraid…I also don’t believe Forge will run 100% smooth on release.

It’s probably about some details. Physics that behave odd. Certain Settings that won’t work.

I’m really looking forward to seeing how scripting will work this time. It kinda begs for being buggy. In the end, scripting was kinda specific and only a smaller group of forgers used it. So bugs over here will probably mean Forge will be mostly “playable” .

I’ve already put my two bits in, but if any part of Halo Infinite’s forge is to be broken, please let it be a feature-ized version of Halo 5’s weapon mixing bug

There was something so inspiring about the Ad Victoriam sentinel beam…

yeah the Forge in Halo 5 looks good. My issue shall always be that such a mode should allow for offline play because we simply don’t know if we’ll be able to access both the mode or our creations. Not to say that things will get shut down but the potential very much exists. How hard would it be just to allow us access to our creations at all times. So for me personally I can’t get excited for the mode

They’re probably going to monetize it so im not holding my breath.

@DeadCassette, may I ask how long you’ve been gaming for?

For about 20 years now

@deadcassette, then I think you’ll forgive me when I tell you that I don’t believe you. Since 2001, there’s been plenty of examples of entire platforms (Dreamcast, Xbox, and Wii, smaller platforms like the OnLive and Ouya, and we almost witnessed the same thing with two PlayStation consoles) being shut down. Do you really think Microsoft will be burning money to keep Halo 5, a game few people played and fewer liked, up 20 years from now?

All servers are ticking time bombs. They get old and outdated, they get replaced, they lose too many players to be worth maintaining, and so on. Contrary to what everyone says, we aren’t living in the online age where everything will be preserved.

Actually we are entering a phase in life where everything will be preserved. Soon all video game titles will be moved to the metaverse.

The new ips have also slowed down. Giants like pubg and fortnite will continue. Same with MCC and everything else after that. All these games will be games that we will be playing for decades to come.

So yes I believe that systems like Halo 5 will stay. Not only that Halo 5 is new in the grand scale of things. It’s not like it’s a 15 years old game. It’s a 6 year old game

@DeadCassette, that’s very much wishful thinking. You’ll learn that the hard way.
