Feels like i have to soley rely on the radar whenever i get shot. I feel so confused in combat. I play a lot of other fps and in them i can clearly and easily snap to where sound is coming from. Been testing in practice mode and it’s so hard to tell where a grenade lands just by sound.
Anyone else having this issue?
I’m definitely right there with you OP. I have found this the hardest fps i’ve played in a while to locate where I am getting shot from or where people are coming from. It’s frustrating the amount of times I realized I’m getting shot at from behind when I am already 50% shields or less. In other halos it wasn’t uncommon for me to get hit once from behind, snap around, and then either reversal kill or worst case scenario at least lower the other guys shields to allow a teammate to finish them off. I am just not having those opportunities in this flight.
I agree. I have had a hard time as well telling where enemy fire comes from.
I have noticed it myself alot today, between shots being fired to being back smacked multiple times in games not hearing a single footstep. It’s very inconsistent.
Yep, sound is a bit broken right now. I’ve noticed that getting shot from behind is almost silent - you only really get feedback from on-screen prompts.

I think another reason it’s much harder and more fustrating now is because you die a lot faster. Feels like the first person to shoot wins the fight. After playing quite a few games i found myself camping a lot more just because i knew it would be a guaranteed kill which is kida lame.
I noticed that too, unless you’re really close to where the action is, you dont hear much. It’s strange, I remember reading that Inside Infinite article where they talk about their sound systems, including a “threat prioritisation system” and while I didn’t really understand any of it, it did give me the impression that a lot of effort was going into the game’s sound systems, so I’m surprised that the sound systems appear to be lacking.
You’re not alone. When I play older Halo games, I can differentiate weapons by their sounds and I have an idea of where it comes from. The mixing in Infinite is so bad and it’s not helped by the lack of individuality of each weapon’s sound.
