Granted we haven’t seen the Arbiter or his faction yet, assuming he has one by the time Halo 4 comes around. I think he is to important a character to be killed in one the books though.
> the elite-human truce will probably be broken in Karen Traviss’s new book, because Glasslands put their relationship in a very perilous state.
Yes but I think the Arbiter will still have a good following. So it would probably be a split between two elite perspectives instead of just all of them deciding to fight the humans.

Yes he is definitely too important to kill in fact he may very well be my favorite character!

Like Johnson used to say, “Their tough but they ain’t invincible.” If anyone could find out how to kill them it would be the chief. Also we don’t really know all that much about them so who’s to say?

The Precursors could create and destroy species at will.
Instead of fighting the Precursors directly, I think that we are going to figjt species created by them, and maybe there will be Precursors that are actually bosses or something.

Ding ding. If anything there will be one great precursor, and other enemies could be who knows.

We could do what we always do, steal one of their guns and use it against them. After all their own weapons should be harmful to themselves.
Similarly I hope that whatever we end up fighting we aren’t stuck with simply containing or delaying the threat until we jump through enough hoops to find the last ditch effort to save humanity. Fighting someone on at least semi-equal footing would be nice.
Honestly, the use of the Covenant again disappoints me. We all know they are only there to bridge the player between the old Halo and the 343 Halo. That’s it. You can point to Glasslands and try to make a connection, but those books are thus far set in 2253. Halo 4 is in 2557. I just can’t see 5 years of MORE fighting happening in the novels.
I hate the post-war direction 343 is taking Halo’s story. It would seen conflict is being dredged up simply for the sake of conflict. NOBODY has learned any lesson from the war.

That’s right.
> Also,I’m suprised that the covenant are making a return, after all,the arbiter pretty much killed their leader.
>
> I also heard that the Elites broke the truce with the Humans and that they are once again at war, maybe the Elites founded a new Covenant.
Kill one leader and others will rise. Some of the leaders want peace, some of the leaders want war. The only thing that’s certain is that the Covenant as we knew it has been broken and that the Covenant will not be the main antagonist in Halo 4.
> I also heard that their will be other spartans on Requim besides the chief, and that there are precursors or forerunners there too…
>
> I hope it’s all true because it sounds awesome!
Can’t know for sure yet, but as far as other Spartans being on Requiem - I doubt it.
Forerunners - it’s a definite possibility.
Precursors - doubt it.

Look at history and that is a pretty common theme. WWII happened due to the treaty France and England put on Germany after WWI. Cold war in general was just dumb along with the wars that were part of it and was partly caused by how things went down after WWII, ect.

Yet even in those scenarios the leaders involved did learn some things. MAD kept the Soviets and US from killing each other and relations actually did smooth over a bit, particularly after Nixon’s detente strategy with China. No doubt President Reagan’s arms race did not help matters later on, but both sides understood confrontation simply wasn’t an option.
What can we say for the Elites? Jul, 'Telcam and the rest of their ilk KNOW the attacks on humanity were lies perpetrated by the Prophets and yet they sound EXACTLY like them. They fear retaliation yet wish to strike first.
Requiem is a Forerunner-made shield world designed to keep the forerunners safe when the halos were activated. Obviously not everything went to plan.
They’ve said the Covenant in this game are going to be something similar to the heretics in Halo 2 in that they’re not the original Covenant, but a splinter group, thus their different design.
There won’t be spartans on Requiem, but the chief will meet his new battle buddies, the spartan IV’s, at some point in the game.
