atleast thats what 343 hyped it up to be but the truth is you’re not going to get any more competitive than h3 or h2 was, they were both by far way more competitive than this game is, they have just changed too many fundamental parts of the game and made it a completley different game all together…
this game would be sooo much more competitive if there was no sprint, smaller maps, slower kill times, no instant respawn, flag juggling, and getting knocked out of scope when shot… im sure theres some more, this is just off the top of my head
they just took the “faster is more competitive” route, which makes no sense to me

I see you forgot to address the only actual issue : weapon balance.
i believe i said slower kill times which would imply a complete overhaul and rebalancing of the weapons… but for the most part the weapons now are pretty balanced the kill times are just way too fast
people complaining about the dmr vs br are just people that want to complain about nothing, they both work and they both work well, complaing about something that isnt going to change the game is useless
idk why you said weapon balancing is the “only actual issue” when the weapons are fine and its not an issue at all… they just need to slow the kill times down, this game has far bigger problems that what you are worried about
In it’s current state, Halo 4 isn’t competitive when compared to 2-3 but it has the potential to become just as competitive as those previous titles. I just hope 343 makes the correct changes to allow the competitive players to enjoy skill based halo again.
> I don’t see how winning isn’t enough motivation to try on its own. Every halo seems exactly as competitive to me. You play to win, that’s the point.
i think you fail to see what competitive really means… yes it means to win but there is the problem “winning” becomes less about being better than the other team and more about hoping for awesome random ordinances and just hoping you have a better shot than the other team in general where as it used to be all about map control and strategy and locking the enemy team down on some part of the map while you control power positions and literally control the other team…
now this game when you kill someone: they instan respawn and sprint right towards you giving no time to properly set up and get map control and so this game has gone from something that used to be all about map control to a random run and gun cluster -Yoink- of chaos, its not competitive at all

Someone didn’t play Halo 2. The BR killed at around the time in Halo 2 as an LR scoped in Halo 4. The issue is that the weapons are a tad too easy to use, like in Halo 2, which isn’t good. You died in Halo CE in around 3/5’s of a second, but it was very difficult to get a perfect 3sk, making it more skillful.

sorry to misinform you but i did indeed play h2 and it was much more competitive than h4 even with its kill times simply because of all the other things you ahve to take into consideration like bxr bxb double shot… kill times were fast but there was a huuuuge skill gap in halo 2 which made it competitive

strafing had alot to do with it also. The better the person was at moving and weaving the better chance he would come out alive. Halo 1-2 had the best strafes. Halo 3 is where they started adding acceleration which completely ruined strafing.
i loved halo 3 i thought they nailed the movement (mlg settings)
it felt quick but not crazy fast like with sprint, and you felt nice and floaty, and you could do better jumps
in halo 3 you had to lead your shots which i personally liked cause you had to have good and steady aim and so much things to factor in like how you were strafing and how he was strafing determined how and where you had to aim to land the shot
some people complain about the “netcoding” which usually just meant they couldnt aim the br right, i have pretty bad internet by all standards but i never had that many problems with it back when everyone played it before reach came out, i never understood that “netcoding is -Yoink-” excuse, you probly played a laggy game it even happens in halo 4
