So after seeing some posts on Twitter I came across this and was wondering if this is the reason why Forge was never added as an offline feature and if that is the case then IDK anymore, what are your guys thoughts on Forge being online only and not having the ability to Forge offline?
And probably because REQs and probably a lot of other things are on the cloud, which require an internet connection
The offline suport dies in halo more and more after reach…
But i guess everyone can/is always online…
That’s probably not the only reason, considering that all your maps and game types are on the cloud when you save and load Forge.
Notice how you never save anything to the hard drive anymore like you did in Reach?
Yeah, as others have said, I don’t think that’s the reason. REQs and the reliance on the cloud of the MP side of the game sounds far more plausible.
The Halo 5 engine is built so that all your items are saved server side. Trying to do Forge offline would mean that your armours and maps would need to be saved client side. If your armours and REQs could be saved client side then people could mod and break the REQs system. There’d be tons of people not paying for REQs. MS and 343i don’t want that.
Edit: That’s why Campaign is the only offline mode, because you don’t need to use REQs

Pretty much all Xbox One saves are on the cloud
Yeah I find it really annoying how you have to be online all the time , I just don"t understand how some people are able to mod it it, like Gamecheat 13 how does he/she do it any one know?

Well thats why Microtrans shouldnt be in Halo as a lot of people have stated it prevents things of such to not allow us to play offline, aside from that I wouldnt mind saving my armor or whatever else to my hard drive like I did years ago with past Halo games. I am just hoping that with Halo 6 t wont be an issue.

This, a lot of Halo 5’s memory and data is on cloud.
They want people to forcibly buy Xbox Live Gold membership.

I agree.
REQ’s are in Campaign
Too bad modders have already found a way. Modders always find a way. I won’t go into details, but I think it’s easy enough to find proof that Halo 5 Forge on PC has already been modded.
And you know what? Not putting the game offline due to modders is ridiculous, since a lot of PC games thrive due to the modding scene. Look at Halo Custom Edition on PC, or Skyrim, or Total Annihilation (back in the day, anyway). You know why those games last so long? It’s not only because of them being good games, it’s because they were extremely mod-friendly. Giving the consumers the ability to create/modify their own content gives the game a much longer lifespan, since it creates a ton of replayability.

Microtransactions doesn’t cause this. You can take away every source of microtransactions out of game but you’r till faced with the underlying problem: REQs are serverside, maps and gametypes are serverside. You’d have to make both of those clientside (which adds more space to the HDD) in order to change that.
Is it that it can’t be so big if it is not connected to the cloud? If it was offline you would have a huge game file.
Best example is the destructible environments in Crackdown 3 - only possible with the cloud.
Not anything new, Forge has been online only since this game launched, or since it was added rather. A lot of this games components are online only.

Which to alot of people dislike Forge being online and should have stayed offline

Interesting. Makes sense
People are already modding it though.
