So Endless were…

The ones to obtain the mantle according to lore theorists? I highly doubt that because we know Atriox hated the forerunners so why try really hard to just bring back a almost as powerful race of aliens who could make brutes life’s just as bad? It’s because like I have been saying he wants them to use their ability to turn back time! To save his home world

No. They were a species that hadn’t been indexed by the Forerunners and somehow survived the firing of the Halo array. They were a wildcard that couldn’t be allowed to exist and threaten their plans for the future.

Yes because they can control time or so the legendary ending says

There is NO mention of them controlling time. Despondent Pyre was saying in the legendary ending that they need to be contained so they cannot control the Galaxy essentially. You need to remember at this point, every other species in the universe had been reset, however, because the Endless were not wiped from the Galaxy, they were not reset line every other species, making it easy for them to then control the Galaxy.

At least that’s my take away from the legendary cutscene

No because it explains their name (endless) and why Atriox would employ them (to reverse time for his planet was destroyed) he wouldn’t just resurrect a alien species as powerful as the forerunners just to rule over the galaxy (cuz he hates slavery) besides I knew they would go this direction because they are basically pulling a infinity war like build up where everyone who died comes back to lead up to a final clash

They were a species that the Forerunners couldn’t trust, so they made Zeta Halo a prison. Apparently, they are immune to the effects of a Halo Ring.

I think the reference to time was they would have the time after the rings were fired, to craft the universe to their design rather than what the Forerunners intended.

Gosh I’m so sick of them just creating new things every installment like example

Halo 4: Covenant Remnant, Promethium Knights

Halo 5: Covenant Remnants still, Promethium soldiers and Guardians ( which make not even a appearance in forerunners trilogy books like just made them out of the blue) Eternal Warden (like where was he during 4?)

Halo Infinite: Banished (should have been who we were fighting from beginning), Endless (WTF who?)

Ya I’m just sick of it at this point

But it’s Halo so I can’t complain 🤷

I don’t mind the new enemies, what annoys me is what happened between Halo 5/Halo Wars 2 and Halo Infinite because the last I checked, Atriox had no ship to get off the Ark and was being contained by the Spirit of Fire.

The novel shadows of reach explains it I think which is what I’m talking about, they only imply answers in books but not explain it in lore or even the games check this chart for 5

We didn’t even get this for infinite

Atriox leaves the Ark in SoR. There’s a “portal” under the mechanite mountain that was opened by Banished/Keepers allowing him back into the Galaxy. The Keepers then betray the Banished stealing Atriox’s Lynch, and going to the Ark, with Lopis’ Feret Team pretending to be allied with the Keepers.

Aw yes aliens and humans alliances mentioned only in books because then we wouldn’t fight anyone in future games

Well the Keepers were never allied with Lopis and the Ferets. It was a deep cover operation. Once they got to the Ark, Lopis and the Ferets then fought against them, the old remnant Covenant who were still aboard the Keyship Truth took to the Ark in H3, and ofc the Banished, but Lopis and the Ferets were thought to be with Keepers so they were already against the Banished from betraying them. Lopis, Olivia and Ash are last known to be aboard the SoF as they decided to no longer remain undercover.

And this is why humans couldn’t be in the covenant, so much betrayal from both parties

I also understood Infinite’s Story in a way that the Endless are supposed to obtain the Mantle.

In the legendary ending, they say “The Endless are threatening our truth”.
The Truth the Forerunners live by is that THEY are basically the Guardians of the Galaxy, and that they obtained this mantle from the Precursors. In a way, they feel like they were the chosen ones. It’s their religion, and keep in mind: Halo’s Story has always been deeply rooted in religious themes.

Then they discovered the Endless which seem to be the true chosen ones by the Precursors. The Game is still fishy about the exact reasons. Perhaps there were artifacts on their home planet. Perhaps the ability of Time Travel plays a role. Perhaps both.

Part of the Forerunners truth is also to have picked Humanity as their successors.
But when Harbinger first meets Chief, she says, “You are not the Future”.

It would make sense that the Forerunners acted this way towards the Endless. It’s basically the essence of the Human-Forunner-War. They did it once, why not do it twice?

Also, when the Foreunners finally accepted that Humanity was chosen by the Precursors, there comes along a completely new species which messes up this whole “agreement” once again.

This can still mean that Atriox want’s to use the Endless in one way or another. He probably thinks he’s smart enough to control them, so things don’t get out of hand.

But I would NOT say the Endless were as powerful as the Foreunners. As far as we know, they were limited to one single planet and got contained quite easily. This also doesn’t mean they were not advanced enough. But “back in the days” they were nothing more like a small seed. But after firing the Halos, they were basically way ahead of anything else in an empty galaxy.

I agree with this statement
