If you can block out the lighting with structures and that, would it be possible to fill the sky with objects and structures to make the map dark, like night time?
Damn, I hope so. Epicness will ensue.

That would be cool. Lower the gravity throughout the map and make it large enough for aerial vehicles.
I can see epic zero-g fights ensuing. Just imagine a battle like that, without gravity/very minimal gravity and aerial vehicles.
As close to space as you can get.

Blacken The Cursed Sun.
That song has a meaning in Halo now.
OP, you raise a good point - that would be cool.
Is your name Montgomery Burns by any chance?
How would you get enough objects to fill the whole sky and block out the sun? it wouldn’t work because the light will creep around anyway.

Make a GIGANTIC box with walls? That way you don’t have to block the sky, but you make a dedicated area of the map which is dark.
why not go into special effects and use purple, then there wont be daylight
OH MY GOODNESS A CANT WAIT FOR THE POSSIBILITIES.

No really though, this is going to be incredible.
Not just night time, but shadowed caves, building eclipses, words written in shadow/created from light.
After seeing the Halo 4 Forge reveal at RTX, Reach really just does look HORRIBLE without dynamic lighting. There’s literally none, anywhere. Any shadows cast are literally painted onto the terrain, rocks and buildings have 100% light no matter which way you look at them, it just doesn’t look pretty.
Now, 343i would be talking some SERIOUS business if they added dynamic time cycles in the game to go along with the dynamic lighting. So maybe the sun will move around giving different levels of light to your maps to represent different times of the day. It wouldn’t be in control by the player, but still. That’d be awesome. This feature (although I doubt it is incorporated) is rumored to be in Halo 4 due to the 2 Machinima videos of Haven released yesterday where 1 match, everything is bright, white, and blue-ish, and the next match (recorded by the same people on the same day), it looks like the sun is setting over the map. Everything looks warmer, like a summer’s sunset. It looks REALLY cool.

Think the $1000000 budget would help.
yes, it will be possible. the forge devs mentioned confirmed it would be possible at rtx.
Thus chaos would ensue.
