So, do you "prefer the Flood"?

More aimed at folks like myself that have tackled Legendary. would you say that fighting the Prometheans has been any better or worse then fighting the flood in the first 3 games?

Myself, I found them challenging but not really any easier or harder then the Flood, and if they truly were meant to be harder then the Flood how’d the forerunners lose their war to the parasite?

in Halo CE I could often find myself up against a wall when facing the Flood in The Maw only because they never stopped re-spawning in the engine room. with the Prometheans if i wasn’t facing more then one at a time I could sometimes wait for it to lose interest and then go in for an assassination.

Fighting the Flood is far, far less annoying. I hate the Prometheans as an enemy class.

Flood is what always gave me a headache. Prometheans are a piece of cake. There’s really nothing difficult in Halo 4 if you know what to do. IMO people think it’s hard because Prometheans are new and unusual. Actually, I think H4’s solo Legendary is the easiest one. Or maybe I’m just more skilled than before.

I actually like both almost equally. They both have their annoying parts and fun parts.

The Prometheans almost single-handedly made the game about 1.5x harder on every difficulty though. Could be good or bad, but I like a challenge.

hmm true, Halo 4’s Legendary didn’t have many deathtrap check points which left you with little ammo or proper weapons to choose from. only two points did I have that trouble.

once is during the mission in which you’re attempting to us the pillars to prevent the Didact from leaving Requiem, in the area with the Banshees and Shade turrets.

The second being during the final mission against 3 Knights, a Battlewagon and a Knight Commander. thoguh a few good timed swing from the gravity hammer can knock out their shields and then a light rifle headshot to follow up.

I dunno really, they’re both fine to me. Also OP (sorry for going off topic), your spartan, it looks like EVA-01 from Neon Genesis Evangelion. Is that true?

Indeed it is Saber, good eye.

Flood was more of a pain to fight, Prometheans aren’t as much, there pretty easy to fight because after you take down all the rest of the smaller units, leaving just the Knights, then its easy to take them down since they never really rush the player.

I prefer the Promethean’s in the sense that they’re the enemy I would rather be fighting. Not that they were weaker but it seems the Flood caused more headaches. Part of that is due to playing the first 3 games when i was younger. When the flood were introduced in H1 I distinctly remember my heart rate being elevated, frantically searching for both ammo and an exit. At no point in H4 did I feel impossibly overwhelmed or left with no options.

They are both annoying as all hell, but I prefer fighting the flood.

I literally wanted to shoot myself in the head every time I saw a knight…

Dang, I voted yes before reading the topic… I’d thought you meant the flood appearance in Matchmaking  My bad. But no, I actually really like the Prometheans as the new enemies. The flood were awesome at first (the first time I ever saw them in Combat Evolved, I was freaking out because I had no idea what they were), but they just became tedious and annoying by the time Halo 3 rolled around.

Pro Knights weren’t fun in the least. They’re nothing but teleporting bullet sponges.

mhm definitely because the Knight could teleport I avoided trying to snipe them with a dmr/br/lr instead opting to get in close and tak out their hield with an over charger pp/bs shot then going for a headshot.

Surprisingly shotguns and scattershots are also fairly effective despite wanting to avoid close range encounters.

guess the results of the poll show Spark was right, these reclaimers do prefer fighting the flood more.

I think the prometheans just need another game or two to develope and evolve.

The flood changed alot through H1-3. The prometheans seem to have some nice ideas, but need some tweaking, and more noticible differences in the Knight classs. Only the lancer is clearly different in its abilities.

Flood in Halo CE/2 were FAR more difficult an enemy. But then again, the Covenant is also much easier in Halo 4 than it’s ever been on Legendary.

I think we should be comparing Halo 4’s Legendary, to Halo CE/2’s Normal Difficulty, and Halo 3/ODST/Reach’s Heroic, to get a fair assumption. Since it is actually that easy.

I do enjoy fighting Prometheans though, they create a unique experience we’ve never had before.

> guess the results of the poll show Spark was right, these reclaimers do prefer fighting the flood more.

I prefer the flood because they are harder IMO.

Prometheans > Flood. I been a fan since the CE days and i cannot tell you how refreshing it is to fight a new enemy class that’s quite challenging IMO. Yeah, they can be killed with the right tactics but when it comes to kill Knights, it’s more satisfying than killing pure forms.

Yeah i am probably in the minority here but whatever. I am not going to lie about the experience i had with the Prometheans and Flood.

Now if the Didact can be evil enough to create Promethean vehicles and new sub classes…hot damn that would be awesome.

The Prometheans are a little bit tougher than the Flood, but not by much.

Both require you to spray shots at them until they die like any typical enemy. But with the Prometheans, the different classes of enemies generally mix things up and make you prioritize.

Crawlers are many in number when attacking. But they also have snipers that you need to pay attention to.
Knights can teleport all over the place and rush you without warning.
And the Watchers bring everything back to life if left too long.

The Flood only had the spores, that exploded in pairs, and were limited to the bodies that were around. The human flood could be taken out with a few shots of the AR. And the Elite flood were silly. The bigger, tankier Flood that also changed into long-range shooters could be killed with one plasma grenade.

Promethians are a harder enemy to face, but it’s still rather easy.

Prometheans are one of my favorite enemy classes, really easy to counter if you know how to counter correctly.

Flood is way harder :expressionless:
