Is anyone losing interest in Destiny or is it just me? I was really excited about it when they announced the game back in 1921 but anymore, it just looks … I don’t know. Every time I see a new game play video or the footage from E3 where they were talking about the different classes … it just doesn’t excite me.
I’ve gone from wanting to pre-order the thing, to now, I think I’m going to wait until it’s on sale.
Is this happening to anyone else? Did they announce the game too soon and now people have lost interest, or is this just me? I mean, every time I hear about it I think “Oh yeah, Destiny …” as if I had forgotten.

I’ll be honest I’ve never really been excited for it…it looks like fps ME. I mean…they even use biotics.
Very bland looking too.

I agree. And what’s with the Playstation exclusive content stuff? Are they still miffed at Microsoft?
Oh well. I’m looking forward to being able to play Big Team Battle in Halo 4 with no lag more so than I am to play Bungie’s new game.
Sorry, Bungie, but I’ll be playing the three best games you ever made in the Master Chief Collection. I’ll get Destiny next year.
As much as it pains me to say it Bungie has completely lost me. I’ve got no interest in Destiny right now, back in the days when they announced it it did sound promising but now it’s just a nicer looking Borderlands.
I’m going to try the Beta to see if it’s worth the time or purchase price but I don’t have any strong feelings towards it. I’m feeling the same way about Destiny I felt about Titanfall prior to release - Meh.
And we all know how Titanfall went down. Hell, I sold my copy today after not actually playing it for months.
lol… “when they announced it back in 1921”
I understand how you feel OP. I’ve never been stoked about Destiny, I just thought that it will be a fun game, I’ll get it, and I’ll play it. I still plan on getting it but I have never been on board the hype train. I didn’t watch anything E3 related to Destiny, I’m going in almost completely blind with no expectations. I will say the graphics are kind of a let down. Its pulling a watchdogs where its being held back by the previous console.
I’m going to buy Destiny and most likely enjoy playing it but I’m not bouncing of the walls just awaiting its arrival.

I figured Watchdogs would have sub-par graphics just due to how long it was in development, same with Destiny (and of course making it compatible with last-gen).
I don’t remember that being the case with the 360; Call of Duty 2, though very dated by today’s standards, blew my mind when I saw it back in 2005. The only games for this generation that have been graphically impressive are the Witcher 3 and maybe Assassin’s Creed Unity. Well, Advanced Warfare looks pretty good (graphically).
I think I’m getting a bit jaded with video games as I’m getting older, or maybe my standards for games are higher now. I loved GTA 4, but GTA 5 (especially online) bores me to tears. The only games that have come out in the last two years that I absolutely love are Halo 4, Bioshock Infinite, and, to some extent, Assassin’s Creed IV.
I kind of have a feeling that I will get Destiny upon release and I may end up completely changing my tune. Who knows?
I’m in the same boat as Austin. I’m underwhelmed from what I’ve seen so far. Looks good and very enjoyable, but not really anything new.
However, I must say the concept of uniting players into Fireteam is fantastic. That’s essentially what I wanted in Halo 4 in the same style as Fireteam Majestic, a bit similar to CoD’s Squads.
I’m still excited for it, moreso than Halo 5 at the moment.
> I’m still excited for it, moreso than Halo 5 at the moment.
I’m still excited for it as well, just not freaking out over it like I was with Halo 4. Halo 5 is a different story all together, right now I’m hopeful with them labeling it as an Arena shooter but only gameplay will prove if this is true or not.
The graphics really remind me of Borderlands… just not cell shaded.
I was in the Alpha. The game is a lot of fun. Day one buy for me, and I had no interest in it before the Alpha.
I lost interest in Destiny as soon as I found out that despite the avoidance of labeling it an MMO, it’s just an MMO.
Gear hunt endgame
MMO-style PvP based on gear/playtime more than skill
Raid bosses
Yuck. Count me out.
I might try it once the price is down under $20, especially if it gets released on PC, but I have no real interest in MMOs.

Thats exciting to hear. I had a friend who also was in the Alpha who told me it was way worth it.

Blame Activision for making advertising deals with Sony. And they’re only timed exclusives.

The PVP is like any other FPS. You just use your SP character. All stats are leveled when doing multiplayer however.
> The PVP is like any other FPS. You just use your SP character. All stats are leveled when doing multiplayer however.
It is not competitive, because it depends on gear/level. It’s not a level playing field like the first 3 Halo games were. Therefore I have less than zero interest in it.
I don’t feel like no-life grinding raid bosses to get the best gear needed to compete in high level PvP. Leave that to the high schoolers and college kids with endless free time.
I have it pre-ordered and ready to go, but the way things are going in the gaming industry it might be the last game I buy.
There are just to many generic games out there now a days … or re-releases that just don’t interest me.
Even the new console’s don’t have squat for interesting games.

I was the in Alpha…
I think they’ve just been hyping for too long. We’ve seen everything we can possibly see; the only things left to perceive require us to play the game ourselves.
I watched the competitive multiplayer footage from the alpha, and I wasn’t impressed. It doesn’t look competitive enough for me–it feels like it leans more towards cool abilities and weapons than skill-based competitive gameplay.
That said, I’m still looking forward to the beta next month. Hopefully, I’ll be proven wrong about the Crucible, but if not, the main game still looks better than any other non-Halo FPS out there.

Bah, you’re probably just some high school or college kid who has infinite free time, because that is totally true and totally not at all ignoring things like classes.
