It’s a guarantee that there will be content up to that point. Not that there will be none after.
Whether or not i’m okay with this depends on the reqs, maps and content delivered over the next 6 months. So far I can’t really say how this will shape up…but I hope they support this game fully until the next Halo is released. I don’t want this to turn into COD where the game has a 1 year lifespan and dies out, for that franchise its one thing because they release a new COD the same time every year.
Frankie address this issue a while back on Neogaf… The June 16th date is pretty much there for legal reasons. They will likely continue passed that date, but they needed a place holder in order to market this aspect of their business model.

No. The point of the free DLC is so that the player base isn’t broken up by DLC barriers. When the player base gets broken up by content, the newer content doesn’t get used as much and the game does out. That’s why they made it free.

See Halo 3-4 and everything in-between for an example

It means by end of June 2016, you will have the complete Halo 5 game (launched Oct. 27, 2015).
It means that after June 2016, you should not expect to receive monthly DLC.
It means that after June 2016, you should not expect DLC to be free, bc any/everything added after will be expansions of the original game.
Im pretty sure it means they will leave it to die like they did MCC and Halo4. At that point they will have moved on making the next cash cow while further diluting the halo franchise.

I think we are being very naïve if we think there wont be a Halo title released annually. We already know next year HW2 drops. I think at some point considering a 3yr dev cycle the remainder of the team currently focusing on dlc will need to move on to H6 or another project. I think 8 consecutive months of dlc is pretty generous tbh.
