So can we do something about grenades?

I just want it because it adds another layer to the team aspect.
Those things can change the course of a match.
Got betrayed last night in Land Grab while capturing a zone ( Splattered by a friendly Warthog inside a tunnel on Behemoth ), and it cost us the match, I almost had the zone, warthog killed me and drove off, then destroyed, enemy captured it, and from there they got a solid upper hand.

Friendly Fire is so much more than being just careful.
First month of potential Friendly Fire enabling across all playlists would be an interesting one.
Lots 'n lots of boots and bans I bet.
Forums gonna be flooded.

“Wasn’t my fault chucking four grenades into an empty Zone. My team mates just ran to those grenades on purpose, and now I’m banned”

Always been a thing, and it isn’t going anywhere

Grenades needs to stop bouncing so much, right now they behave like tennis balls which doesn’t make any sense

There were 2 changes they made with grenades in Infinite that should be brought more in line with older Halos:

  1. Frags prime way too quickly, and it seems to prime off the bounce.
  2. There is virtually no cooldown between grenade tosses, whereas older Halos had at least .75 seconds between throws.

These two are the culprits for wanton grenade spams in Infinite and while my first point could be compromised with, my second point definitely needs to be addressed.

We need at least 0.75 - 1s between throws, like older Halos. The grenade volume isn’t the problem, it’s the frequency. Right now it’s actually more effective and faster to bounce 2 nades off the floor at someone in the same room as you are rather than try and shoot them with a weapon. That’s how ridiculous the grenade spam without that interval is.

I honestly find this funny. These forums have been filled with ‘grenade spam’ threads for as long as I can remember. Grenades in Infinite are the weakest they’ve been in Halo since Halo 3. Not to mention the long fuse on frags and the fact that they vanish if you die while throwing them.

Most likely Desync at play if your grenades are just “not doing damage”. And the frags explode almost immediately after a bounce, that’s why it’s recommended you bounce your frags to get the explosions off.

There’s also the thing where you can shoot Grenades with the “tails” on the floor to detonate them, which adds even more explosions into Infinite than expected, and that’s not without considering you have virtually no delay between throws, so you can empty your stock of 4 grenades in rapid succession, which is unheard of in previous Halos.

All these factors combined create a very unimpressive and erratic grenade experience for Infinite when Halos have always focused on a decent balance between Gun, Melee and Grenades.

Grenade Spamming was always a Problem, with the most annoying ones beeing in CE, 5 and Infinite.
Due to the lack of friendly Fire, it got a bit worse. I’d reduce the Amount of Starting Grenades to 1, reduce the Blast or make them less bouncy.

While we’re on the Subject. This is also one of the Reasons I enjoyed LSS on Breaker, even though I’m not a FFA Guy. Less Grenades, way more Gunplay & interesting Engagements.

By the way, enabling Friendly Fire is not a Solution. Friendly Fire always was a huge Problem and still is in MCC. It’s one of the few Changes I definitely support in Infinite.
Especially due to the Fact that this Game is F2P, I don’t need Trolls betraying me for basic Weapons and for other weird behaviours 24/7.

That’s what makes them fun to use

Its definitely worse than other iterations simply because of friendly fire disabled, people saying otherwise are either being less than genuine or unable to process how it even changes their own gameplay.

I know that myself personally that it has changed the way I play Halo in comparison to other games. I’ll throw grenades in this game that I never would have thrown in other games. Example being a group of allies/enemies fighting over a territory like land grab/KoTH.

If everyone on these forums can acknowledge the fact that they’ve thrown these grenades differently than previous iterations then they are acknowledging nade spam. If you were throwing your grenades at allies even before this game… then you’re just trash and a bad teammate.

Friendly fire would definitely benefit this game by making decisions have more weight again.

Totally agree. Single grenade on spawn would help so much!

Im playing Halo since Halo 3. Grenade were always used in every halo title to weaken the other players. Also in Halo 5, grenades thrown first, so you heard if someone was hit. That meant, that someone was behind the corner.
Grenades belong to halo

I love when idiots say “GrEnAdE sPaM hAs AlWaYs BeEn A tHiNg” its not the grenade spam thats the problem. Its the ridiculous bounce physics and lack of freindly fire. Has Grenade spam always been a thing? Yes. You know what made it balanced? Balanced grenade physics and the fear if being Betrayal kicked from the match for team killing. Dont be dumb.

A real fight? Or throw grenades.

The real issue with the grenades of Infinite is that they all apparently bounce in the direction of players, even if the geometry of the map would indicate them bouncing elsewhere.

A great way to fix this would be to have only Dynamo Grenades bounce towards players and not the frags.

Also most of the time the first grenade(if its a frag or plasma) tends to disappear a lot and not explode or takes too long to explode so its better to throw multiple
