Ive been a Halo player since H2 and i can say I’ve never experienced so much grenade spamming in any other Halo game like it’s ridiculous how many grenades are flying around. Can we make them less powerful? Or only start with 1 grenade?
Hell i wish there were certain modes with no grenades at all. I know swat doesnt have nades but i mean just slayer with no nades.
You haven’t been paying attention because it’s always been a thing. So much so that I have to hear about it whenever the resident gears-fan of the friend group is ‘forced’ into a Halo game night. Grenade spam is an anti-halo talking point. That, and Spartans constantly jumping.
But to your point, probably not. There will be grenade-less specialty gametypes, sure, but the core experience will likely always have them.
I am also a supporter of the idea that we can spawn with one grenade, or increase their power and make them pickup only. But these are unpopular ideas.
I’ve seen this in just about every Halo game… It might as well be a staple of the franchise.
It’s just so amusing when you’re dead and you watch your teamates spawn in and the first thing they do, besides running straight ahead is throw all their grenades. It’s automated at this point xD
I had an extra arm fitted so I can throw 3 at once lol, sometimes it’s just funnier, think as there are more variants of nades, it makes a difference, maybe it could be toned down a bit, ie slower spawn time etc.
Either way I’m ok and still have fun
What should be done about grenades is to make their visual effects (such as smoke, ground scorching etc.) last longer, because they’re being really lame.
They need to decrease the time you can throw multiple grenades, I consider CE did it well for those Pocket Nukes
Reducing it to just 1 grenade could also be a good idea. Not like you spawn with a fully loaded weapon either so not sure why you spawn with 2 grenades.
Best way to balance them would be to make them bounce less
Grenade spam was always a thing but since H5, they bounce so much that they are virtually everywhere
Realistically speaking grenades should not slide on dirt and other surfaces as if you had thrown them on a frozen lake, and gameplay wise its just bad design decision
So either they make them bounce less or they decrease their count to 1 and enable friendly-fire
Also i never understood why they called them frag grenades in-game, they are technically high-explosive grenades not fragmentation grenades
A lot of grenade use is Hail Mary, at least in my case. Frag is FPS parlance for getting a kill, so it might be because of that and not the technical meaning.
I agree as well, the grenades need less bouncing, the throwing distance should be less and the blast radius needs to be decreased. Players should be rewarded for accuracy.
One thing that I think would help with spamming since 343 made the game easier, put friendly fire back on.
I played ranked enough to know friendly fire doesn’t stop it.
Well that sucks lol, I started playing rank when the game first came out and about a month into the Halo issues I just stayed with quick play especially with desync. Last night was the first time I played in months overall.

As someone who also has put years into every Halo release, there are things that changed gameplay (for me) in Halo 5 and Halo Infinite, and I’m not talking about movement. Halo 5 was the first Halo that I would get spawn-killed, so often I didn’t want to play Multiplayer. Halo Infinite has eliminated Friendly fire and collision, yes, in previous Halo games some teammates would still spam grenades and rockets, but as a player, I died 90% of the time to gunfire. Now in Halo Infinite I die primarily from grenades and that’s because everyone including myself is spamming grenades, the two might be linked, no friendly fire, spamming grenades, and to speak the obvious, that’s because there are no consequences for our teammates. Unfortunately, something I’m hearing more about is spawn killing … just great, only in recent Halo games.
H5 was the same granade fest as I remember.
I always wanted 1 granade for H5.
But I think H5 granades was better than Inf I mean less annoying, maybe bacause your always was able to use thrusters or sprint faster idk(I’m not sure how fast H5 sprint/walk vs Inf) .
Inf granades looks too bouncy I see too many unfortunate deaths. Additionally too often I hear and see nothing like deaths by granades came out of nowhere, frags or plasma, for real no actual effects or sound, just nothing and I’m dead.
They should enable friendly fire. If they did, grenade spam would disappear.
It doesn’t exist in Plat-Diamond-Onyx gameplay, because Friendly Fire is on.
Nah grenade spam definitely still a thing in high plat-low diamond ranks.
Yeah? I haven’t encountered too much of it. Maybe I’m just lucky, lol.
To bad we can’t do friendly fire in normal games, but people can’t handle not killing their teammates.
