I’m not sure if this topic belongs on this forum, But I’ve just been put off grifball for life. I was just playing in the grifball playlist with some buddies, and we encounter 4 inheritors. First, I just thought “how much -Yoink- did they have to suck to reach that rank?” but they must have been just completely and utterly legit. But still not ethical (as far as being ethical goes in Halo)
What I mean Is that in the game, They just spawn camped! it was completely ridiculous. there was no escape for our team, they just camped our spawn for the entire round each time without actually capturing the objective.
Sure, Part of it was due to their superior skill, But I looked at all their Bios after the game, turns out they were grifball champions and something like the 2nd best team on the east coast.
What the hell?!?! How does spawn camping constitute being a skilled griball player?
I don’t know who I’m more mad at, the stupid team or the playlist/rules.
What do you guys think?
whats completely limited and what’s not?
Gimme your opinions
Link to the game please.
Self-professed Grifball pros will always score the objective. That’s how you win in Grifball. Spawn-camping (WITHOUT scoring the objective) will get you barred from pretty much any Grifball league.
There isn’t complete consensus on spawn camping. There are some people who believe it does take skill to hang out in one spot and time your hammer swings 3 seconds apart to keep the opposing team in respawn. And they do have to not suck too badly for a few seconds in a row to reach the spawn alive and assume their position.
But then there is a larger group of people who feel that it’s against the spirit of the game, boring, unfair, or otherwise not worth participating in. Unless of course they’re trying to clear the path for the bomb carrier to get to the plate, but in those situations the spawn trap doesn’t usually last very long.
But to get out of it, I’d recommend setting your sensitivity up to 10 and as soon as you spawn, spin to the left or right and swing. About 50% of the time you’ll get at least a tie, killing one of the trappers. Then once you manage to spawn and be alive for a few seconds, you should focus on staying that way. People like that tend to get really frustrated and mad if you just keep backing a few steps away from their hammer range. If you dance around a bit they won’t be able to handle it and eventually just start charging forward at you, and that’s where you kill them.

You think that’s bad? At least you didn’t run into guys good enough to do this

</mark>I’ve done this a few times b4. It’s fun.
lol, no such thing as griffball pros. no such thing as pros in Halo except the past MLG pros. but since there is no MLG halo anymore no one is a pro
/end of story
If you have a good team against another good team, it ALL comes down to host. Plain and simple.
Grifball used to be a great game but now its a booster paradise playlist. I have a feeling once the performance bonus is gone, it will reduce those kind of players.
hahaha Grif Play is hilarious even when I am getting whooped
Blame the team.
From what I’ve read in other threads about this, there’s not much that can be done to Grifball itself to fix the problem. Moving the spawns to a safe spot prevents defenders from scoring clutch kills on someone about to arm the bomb. Disabling friendly fire creates an exploit that teams can use to launch a bomb carrier across the map and directly onto the enemy’s goal.
I think the only thing that could be done to fix this would be to remove the incentive to boost. The playlist would have to be modified to award credits based on how fast you won, rather than how many kills you scored. The playlist would also have to be modified so that it didn’t affect Commendation progress, K/D, or related stats. Unfortunately, I don’t think Reach’s Matchmaking system supports these changes.
I posted a thing about grifball spawn campers before. I got camped by some inheritors who all had over 800 killionares. if they cant be punished no one can.
Actually spawn camping is a war tactic…
> Actually spawn camping is a war tactic…
yep thats ww2 is famous for, spawn camping without that we would have lost!
you must mean game tactic right?
Griffball is a fun gametype to me but everytime I play, people went in for the kills. I won an entire game because I looked at the bomb instead of the spartan. Samething with Team Objective.
I usually go into Grifball with atleast 2 other teammates, and we never get spawn camped. I would say communication is your top priority in Grifball and and other gamemode for that matter.

Pretty much this. Pro’s will actually play the game, others just play to increase their rank and K/D.
I stopped playing GB because of the spawn camping, constant team betrayals and terrible lag.
> Actually spawn camping is a war tactic…
Which is why it’s completely ok for some people.
Games are about fun for me, not winning. Some other people see them differently.
That’s why avoid spawn campers and playlists where they thrive the most.
To each their own though.

Hey if you wanna play, me and 2 other teammates are really good, we need an awesome, trustworthy 4th teammate who plays to win. I would say 90% of the time we win 3-0 with a shutout in a very quick amount of time.

I would say that spawn killing is a bit of a grey area, in a slayer type match say SWAT sometimes its a matter of ensuring that the enemy does not get the upper hand or even that when you see them…you kind of have to.
But for Grifball specifically, I do not believe it is OK. It takes a lot of the fun out of the game, and being that one usually needs to time their swings just right again usually at the mercy of the host just to get the kill, adding this to it really makes it almost unplayable.
