So anybody know why we went backwards with color customization?

I mean i have my gripes about MWO but customization is not one of them.

I’mma check that out after I run through the rest of the few games worth playing (or that I havent already played) on my gamepass and cancel the subscription.

It’s free to play like halo infinite multi just so ya know which is why i compared it to halo infinite.

The best part is Forza Horizon 5 has amazing customization. So really 343 has no excuse.

I think the original plan was you’d be able to create your own armor coatings. But somewhere along the line that plan either changed or got delayed.

I like how they got us all to become halo insiders so they could take our views onboard.

For real,

It was a cheap and lazy way to resell us the same.item.multiple.tikes and put in minimal effort.

First 343 took the concept of Armor cores and restircted customization on this.

Than they took 10 of the 60 default colors in Halo 5 gave us those for free and monetized the other ones.

Scarlet Wake is just basic red but they locked it to the New Halo armor core.

Than they took that same red, renamed it Scarlet Skies and locked it to the Reach armor. In separate bundles at the same price.

They were Able to make a profit off of the same color and just changed the name.

Now let’s move on to Emblems. These bundles are advertised as 6 or 11 items. When you open them you see 4 of the same.emblem but 343 figured oh let’s make them not universal so we can count it as a separate item entirely. Thus you get the same emblem but locked to a vehicle, a weapon, an armor and nameplate…

And thus we get to the lack of Universal customization. Sapposable they are looking into cross core customization. But as it currently sits 343 designed it to fully restrict any Universal customizations. Such as buying a color coating and it being universal to every Armore core, or every weapon, or every vehicle.

They specifically did this for the reason to resell to stuff from one core to another. 343 looks at data like what customizations do players wear alot on the reach core … now they take that data and repackage that attachment for the MK7 core and sell it to us.

This monetization system was done half -Yoink!- and sniped out in hopes that they just suck in money early on. Unfortunately people just submit and buy by the bulk so it won’t change or get better. We probably won’t get cross core customizations and people will have to re buy all the armor customizations for whatever new core releases all over again.

Nope they restricted customizations simply to make every single little thing a profit machine. And notice how they don’t make coating Universal.

That was on purpose so they can sell us the same color mtiple.times.

How many times did they sell us basic red AKA Scarlet wake, or Scarlet skies… They are the same. It locked to a core. So you can’t just buy Scarlet wake red and apply it.to.every core… Nope they had to get you a second time and third with the Yoroi

And guess what when the new Cores come out they will just rename and resell that same.basic red… They could resell us Basic red an infinite amount of times

Based on how bad it is, it has to be all about the money.

To make you buy stuff.

obvious answer is obvious… shall we commence a boycot? nah, that’s too much cyberbullying. let’s just stay as the good consumers, and pay up 20 for a PNG texture wrapped around a 9k+ pollygon model
ya know, after paying for 3 bundles, i’ve payed the exact amount for Halo Reach, and i’d still feel like it’s lesser than Reach. even with the campaign

Did you mean to reply to me? I’m very aware of the real reasons of the new “system.”

Absolutely spot on. That should be copied and pasted to 343i on Twitter.

Iv already caught on t their game.

They gave us 10 of the 60 free default colors from Halo 5, now they are going to resell us the other 50 slowly over time and rearrange he the same colors and there you go that’s their coatings for the next 10 years.

And to top it off they won’t be universal and imagine how many times they can sell us the same iteration of orange or light blue by rearranging the location on the armor, vehicles, and weapons.

Unfortunately I think it’s because they needed to be able to fill a store and Battle Pass(es) with content, and it’s easier to individually package different color combinations / styles than unique armor each time.

They really need to reassess their marketing strategy and store items. I would have happily paid £60-80 for the game but they won’t be getting a penny from me the way things are.

There’s 10 of us in our group that play almost every day…the sum total spent so far is £10 and even he regrets buying the BP. They could have have had £600-800 from our group alone…multiple that by thousands of groups globally and it’s a massive amount of money they won’t be getting their hands on.

They could have at least made the coatings Universal if I have to pay for them.

Honestly I think they purposely did this to charge you more than once for the same color.

I mean why sell you basic red one time when I can artificially create a system that makes it to where I can sell you the same red an I finite amount of times.

Remeber in Halo 5 we had 60 default colors. In Halo Infinite they gave us 10. Now 343 plan is to sell us those same 50 remaining colors per item… Aka. Per armor core. Per weapon and per vehicle, so they don’t even have to be all that creative now as long as they maintain this model.

They purpose went against the idea of making a coating Universal to all cores or all weapons. Even though games like fortnite do this. And it’s because they knew that was the only way a lack of creativity developer could make profits

I’ll say it again: It shouldn’t have launched if it wasn’t finished.
Stop defending 343 for bad decisions.
Stop shilling for them.
Use your own common sense for a -Yoinking- moment. Would you buy a brand new car that’s only half built?
Would you buy ANYTHING brand new that’s only half finished?
When did people start believing that is okay?!

It’s entirely possible for them to have the coating system and customizable colors. They could have don’t something similar to emblems and allow us to choose a coating and a color combination for that coating. They could then treat the coating and color combination as primary and secondary colors when it came to recruit. With more exotic coatings they could even limit it to one color combination it they wanted. Boom!

Or they could have made choosing a coating optional, and had primary and secondary options which were only visible with no coating.

Of course there was the more expansive proposal most of us have probably seen by now, but the two options I mentioned shouldn’t be hard at all to implement. If they cared at all about keeping colors and having coatings they could have. I’m guessing the real reason we don’t have colors is because it would make their coatings they sell in stores less appealing. Not that it’s impossible to have colors and coatings.

It’s just for the sake of money. Destiny 2 does the same thing but their shaders are universal and aren’t actually charged for real money. Halo Infinite splits them up as weapon AND armor coatings so they can make bundles to sell you. That actually bleeds into the campaign too since things like the Banished Deception coating are split into 7 lockers because they give you several for weapons, armor, and vehicles.

Why make them universal when you can make several of the same one?
