So Agent Lock is "friends" with Master Chief.

I just read Eurogamer’s latest preview on Halo 5 and I found an interesting quote.

> In one cinematic Eurogamer saw at E3, The Arbiter says: “How well do you know your friend, human? And what would you call me if you learned the truth of what I have done?”

This quote is from one of the H2A terminals that was shown to Eurogamer and I think it’s safe to assume the Arbiter is talking to Agent Locke. So obviously John and Locke have a significant past.

Another interesting tidbit is a quote from Frankie in an IGN interview where he was asked about Agent Locke. The guy from IGN asks what his name is and Frankie tells him, “Agent Locke, or at least that’s what he’s known as at the time”. Boom.

So is it possible that Agent Lock is an existing character in the expanded universe going by a different name? I’m not knowledgeable on the books, so could we make a list of anyone who was close enough to Master Chief to be referred to as his “friend”?

Here’s the Eurogamer article by the way.

I doubt the two are really friends. Spartan Scruggs said, “What about your pal, the Master Chief? Any of you heard from him lately?” to Hood, Palmer and the Arbiter among others during Escalation when he turned traitor in order to show he isn’t betraying them for no good reason and that something foul is in the air. Did he mean that Chief was literally Hood, Palmer and Arbiter’s friend? Not really. You seem to be looking too deep into it.
