Is there an emoticon for the emotion I’m feeling right now?
I enjoyed Action Sack, but it had a limited crowd so I can understand its removal.
It had a small population. I’m surprised GB wasn’t removed
The only reason it was removed was because of it’s low population, and you want to know why it had a low population? 90% of the gametypes in there were bad slayer gametypes just shoved in there for the sake of curiosity to test the limits of the megalo engine and never removed. 7% where just bad objective gametypes. 3% were new gametypes that had potential but even when that potential was used the creations from them were never utilized in the playlist.
I question why something like Anniv. Firefight, which is dedicated to one map and no achievements tied to it or co-lagfest campaign get to stay, but one of the more decent playlists gets removed instead of updated like it should have.
The action sack playlist was shafted pretty much throughout its existence in reach; never getting any of the fun, silly gametypes that prior action sack playlists had but instead being a collection of basically slayer gametypes. Even still, its population wasn’t the worst, and did have maybe 4 fun gametypes. It’s sad to see it go.
I’m going to miss Shotty Snipers. But that’s it.
It never got any useful updates, and the combination of stupid-mini-games and normal gametypes-with-a-twist drove away the population that preferred only one of those things. Also, no Fiesta.

Seriously. This is really bad. Reach is going to take a steep turn down in the coming months. If there are really that many players that have Anniversary and NOT Reach, I welcome them to make a complaint.

Epic Sad Face my friend. I will miss Splockets and Dino Blasters sorely.

I can understand Co-Op campaign staying, but you’re right on Anniversary firefight.
There should be a playlist for all the different gametypes that someone might want to play, and Action Sack was definitely one of those.

This is pretty much the only playlist I played in on a regular basis. I’m pretty sure the low population came from the ridiculous gametypes they put in there (i’m looking at you Power Slayer, Dino Blasters and Hotshot…gah). The playlist was neglected, and never hit its true potential. Action Sack in Halo 3 was perfect, 343, so when you release the Action Sack playlist in Halo 4, do it right.
I doubt there will be an Action Sack playlist in Halo 4 because 343i have already said there will be less playlists in Halo 4 to keep the community more concentrated and playlist populations high.
It was interesting, but not worth keeping.

Agreed. Heck, it seemed as if you were virtually the only one making and gathering gametypes to try to get added to the playlist.
I do wonder what you are defining as “bad slayer gametypes,” though. Power Slayer and Hotshot obviously come to mind, but gametypes like Dino Blasters, Splockets, and Shotty Snipers don’t seem like they’d ever fit in elsewhere (being limited in loadouts and weapons).
And the bad objective gametypes? Speedflag on small maps (Asylum, Zealot) is really the only one that comes to mind there. (Personally, I love the Haloballs and Hog Potato.)
Which gametypes had under-utilized potential in your mind? Basically all of them seem to fit that definition in my mind, especially the ones that existed on only one map.
Honestly I’m glad it’s gone too many people (In lobbies I joined into) were always choosing Hockey a never ending game in most cases you pretty much had to wait for time to expire to get out of that hell, Granted A.S had a few good gametypes I just never played it for the sake of nearly always being placed into one of those damn lobbies

After going through the Blueprint forums, I had learned that at one point Der Flatulator was doing something, gathering all the Action Sack things posted over there, but lately I haven’t seen or heard anything at all from him.
Aside from that, Haloball alone gave us soo many options for minigames now a days like Hall of Balls and Floormaster. Speedflag is already in TO, so there’s still a chance to play that. Shotty Snipers can easily be recreated from the Slayer Meta game. Keep in mind though that this was going to be the first update of 2, the first was focused on getting new games in and reducing redundancy as well as remove unfavorable gametypes. The second update was focused on updating existing gametypes to make them a bit more playable. Examples would be reducing Dino Blasters to 25 kills in 7 minutes and increasing the bomb explosion rate in BOOM! Ball.

it wasn’t just the low population, the gametypes that were most commonly played in it were to similair to what is available in other playlists making action sack a waste of a playlist.

I think it’s less the low population (never really saw it go below 1000) and more so the similar gametypes. 343i just never took the time to consider updating the playlist which would have given it the much needed variety.
Gonna miss A.S. Definite favourites are Dino blasters, Splockets and shotty snipers. Good thing i have Halo 3. Could never beat those games. Except flag.
