I know that 343 have said that they want to make the story in Infinite easy to understand so new players don’t get confused, but is there any way that the events of Hunt the Truth will return? I mean some important stuff happened there involving the Chief himself. Yeah ultimately all of that should have been in Halo 5 but for me I always took that as Hunt the Truth being what the people in the Halo universe are seeing the events and Halo 5 is what actually is happening. I know the likelyhood of this happening is the same as Goku being in Smash 5 but come on 343 finish what you started.
It was meant as more of something to hype up Halo 5, but that clearly ended up going nowhere as you mentioned. I can see them making references to how Chief’s actions were misunderstood in Hunt the Truth and so on. I doubt they’ll revisit it in great detail since they already delivered the story via audio.

It ended up being just hype for Halo 5, but originally that was what Halo 5 was gonna be about. I just want something to come out of that. For god’s sake the Chief is declared dead and was completely backstab by ONI.
…not to mention the backslash. The more people forget H5 happened the better for 343i.
Plus the devs aren’t afraid to cut ties with old sub-stories, especially when the fans weren’t fond of them (or played those story-lines in first place). Jul for instance, just to make an obvious example. I doubt we’ll hear about John’s rewritten genetic code ever again either - thanks Satan in that case!

Oh, do you mean how it was supposed to be like a lead in to Chief going AWOL for the entire game? I wish they had made 5’s narrative like that. But, since they already made a plot around that idea (not necessarily the best execution), I don’t think it will be a major focus at any point especially since it seems like the UNSC and Chief are on speaking terms at the end of 5.
I do hope it is easier to follow then H5, & that you don’t need to know everything that is going on in the halo universe to understand the campaign. If that isn’t the case, give us a recap video of everything we need to know before playing so we understand.

Honestly I don’t see them referencing Hunt the Truth through the story directly. It’s possible if they do terminals or data pads that there’s some extra lore tying it in but I don’t think we’ll get that conflict between Chief and ONI in the campaign.
