Why does it not give more than one extra magazine for the Assault Rifle? It brings the total ammo count from 224 to 256.
Compare this to how it affects the DMR (from 42 to 84) or the Battle Rifle (from 108 to 216) and it seems kinda…skewed. I say it should allow the AR to go up to 352 rounds like in Halo 3 or 320 for 10 magazines. I think that would balance things out a bit, the AR burns through ammo faster so why not boost it’s ammo a bit more?
I think it boils down to you being able to use up that ammunition. Its very easy to burn through precision weapons, but with CQC weapons you stand a much higher chance of being killed, so I guess they figure that you will end up dying before you can use it up.
> I love using the AR but I never seem to run out of ammo.
In Wargames I would agree, it’s hard to run out. I’m talking more about Spartan Ops though, specifically Legendary where you will burn through everything.
Before anyone asks yes I realize that it’s so much easier to do Legendary runs with precision weapons, a bit too easy if you ask me…

I think that is exactly why it doesn’t get more. Halo has always tried to discourage spray and pray. So they don’t want to give the AR that much more ammo.

Ahem, the MA5B from Halo 1? 60 round magazines with 600 rounds in reserve?
It was a good weapon back then too, range deficient but used in the right situations it was practically a chainsaw.
Halo 3’s AR got 352 rounds in reserve. Halo Reach’s AR got 288 if I remember correctly.

It doesn’t matter if you die in Spartan Ops though. You get unlimited respawns.
I think it’s just because the game is still maturing gameplay wise. I’m sure it is intended that the suppressor is not affected whatsoever, and maybe the assault rifle is just being balanced is all. I’m more than certain that given a few patches, 343i will improve this application andtweak it for balance.

True true, it did just come out recently so I’ll keep on hoping.

Same here, it’s the iconic Halo weapon! Loved the MA5B from Halo 1, the 5C from Halo 3/ODST, didn’t care much for the MA37 from Reach though. Kinda on the weak side that one was.
