I don’t think a H2A would do that well anyway. The Campaign wasn’t as good, revolutionary, or classic as CE’s and no one wants to play the same game as ten years ago with nothing new.
IMHO, if H2A tanked, Halo Xbox One/5 would suffer, and it would also get pushed out earlier to compensate, making it suffer even more. H2A can easily lead to the breaking of the Halo franchise if it doesn’t live up to it’s decade old sibling.
I think that H2A is a pivotal point for Halo. It may even be able to hold us over for awhile until Halo Xbox One is released, which I think is important. It could easily delay a whole year more for Halo Xbone. This will give 343 more valuable time to make the game better.

You said it, I was thinking it. The anniversary thing is already stale, I won’t be taken in again.
The question to ask is… did CEA bring young blood to the franchise? I don’t think it did, at least not in any significantly measurable way. Happy to be proven wrong, though. If it didn’t, then why do the same with H2A? All you’ll do is further alienate the die-hard fans like myself who have been around since 2001.
If H2A fails, and I’m feeling strongly that it would, then the failure could have a significant impact on Halo 5. The anniversary thing will do very little to attract new, young gamers. I spent literally hundreds of hours playing CE and H2 as a 19-21 year old. I won’t spend any more time on those games as a 31 year old. But I really, really want to for Halo 5. I’ll give you my time and money if Halo 5 looks good. I suspect kids these days don’t want to play a Halo anniversary any more than I wanted to play a Super Mario anniversary 10 years after it was launched. That’s two core gamer groups that you’re missing out on, right there.

I have to respectfully disagree with you. I too have been playing Halo since the beginning and I feel the opposite. Call me ignorant or stubborn if you must, but I feel that the “newer” Halo gets the more player population drops. I used to have a friends list full of people playing Halo on a regular basis, now I have 1. Halo evolved too much with Reach and 4. Halo, Call of Duty, Gears, and every other shooter all had their own styles. Then it seems like after the big commercial success MW2 was, it somehow became alright to destroy your norm and incorporate sprint, killstreaks, perks, join-in-progress, xp unlocks your guns,…the list goes on. When myself ,like 80% of players on Live, wants to play Call of Duty, I play Call of Duty, not Halo 4. If done right, H2A would be a nice refresh to true Halo multiplayer, considering my stated opinions on 4 and the fact Halo 3 is no longer supported. If it would be a flop I will personally be shocked considering the vast majority of people I have talked with about this (outside of these Halo forums) have similar views to my own.
In the highly unlikely event that Halo 2 Anniversary isn’t successful, I won’t give a damn anyway. I’m going to buy it and I’m going to play it until I faint in front of the television. I couldn’t care less if anyone buys it because once it’s out, it’s mine until technology evolves enough that I won’t be able to play it anymore.
Meanwhile, I’ll be happy in the knowledge that Halo 5 will be getting a much needed extra year of development time, so maybe it won’t turn out as atrocious as Halo 4 did. Either way, I won’t let myself get even a little excited for it until I have solid evidence that it’ll be a great game, unlike its predecessor.
Halo 2 Anniversary, however, if done right, could revitalize my stagnating interest in the Halo series. Halo 2 was my favourite game in the series and I’d love for it to get the Anniversary treatment, and more.

I want H5 more then H2A BUT it would be nice to go back to the start (for me) Personally I loved H4’s leap of faith I hated a lot of it but H4 showed me that load-outs can work (if restricted like Reach’s but instead of choose your AA, choose a CC or BR)
If H2A does come, I hope it is everything you want it to be.
99% of the time I’m playing halo I’m playing Halo CEA and that has a max pop of 320 on a good day. Playing the same 4 maps over and over again never gets old because it’s just that good. Meanwhile I cant even play 4 games of reach team slayer or infinity slayer without getting bored.
So if H2A fails than I wouldn’t mind a whole lot. Halo 5 is still getting that extra time it’ll need and I’ll be set for halo multiplayer for atleast the next decade. And even if Halo 5 turns out to be Call of Duty: Space marines 2 I wont mind the slightest because I’ll have halo to play.
I had over 21k blocks (maybe 210k?) occupied from all the hours punched into Halo 2.
Where did my life go (positive), and how did the disc initially survive are questions I’ll never get closure to hah.
EDIT FOR RELEVANCY:
I strongly disagree that it’ll tank as a seller, but if it fails as an adaptation then it could simply be resolved with a Halo 2 Originals release without any changes whatsoever.

Says who?
And you aren’t even giving examples, you are just saying things that don’t make the slightest of sense
Halo 2 not as revolutionary as CE? Well it’s not the 1st game duh, but it did offer two playable characters, with perspective into both the Flood and the Covenant. The first halo game to include hijacking and dual wield. It had complex campaign levels, a greater soundtrack imo, but still kept classic mysterious feel in the game. Oh, and had the arguably the most variety in missions places and factions. Did you not enjoy Scarab boarding…facepalm?
It offered skulls and in game terminals, which made us want to go back to the campaign. I rather play the same -Yoinking!- thing then another game that is losing its identity. Lmfao for real…
Just give me Halo 2 all the maps and a full multiplayer that worked like H2 mm when it came out maybe tweak it a little.
I could careless if it isnt HD i just want halo 2 back i still play halo 2 on pc.
Halo CE failed for one reason it wasnt a full game. It was a HD Campaign with 5 maps that you had to play through Reach. Give us a full game and the game will succeed. Only on Xbox One though we need a Halo game on X1 that isnt SA
As long as their are 10+ in each playlist, I’ll be playing a little bit of everything. That is, if it’s legit MP. I’m just happy, that I know it’ll be a while, before it ends up offline again.
