Edit:-Its OVER 20 maps at launch. Not JUST 20. And OVER 15 as free DLC. So that’s even better!
I just hope this number does not include the Forge maps as well. And that there are not too many “remixes”.
That’s awesome. I was worried that the beta would have half the maps of the game and that we would get bored quickly. I guess not.

Yeah I forgot to add that. Even I saw it on IGN only.
Not only is it free, but that is A LOT of content. More than any other Halo, if I’m not mistaken. Hell, Halo 4 only had 19.

Yes!10 at launch. And 9 as paid DLC. 3 map packs each consisting of 3 maps.
Edit:-They also released Pitfall and Vertigo later on which were included in the Championship Bundle. So that’s 21 maps. Again. That bundle was also paid.
Bear in mind that a lot of these will be remixes, like Regret and Eden. Still. It’s a lot.

Also, a lot of people didn’t even realize these were the same pieces and location, so I have no problem if they do a lot of remixes. Are you assuming many of them will be remixes, or have you read that? I’m at work, and having trouble looking at some of the sources of information.
Actually more, since the game will release with MORE than 20 maps.

First Wild Hunt has all free DLC, and now Halo 5 will have 15 free DLC maps? This is a good year for gaming. CE has just been beaten for base map quantity and Halo 2 has just been beaten for total map quantity. Hopefully more developers adopt this idea in the future.
But Halo 5’s mechanics and lack of Forge info is still turning me off. If 343 blows me away with Forge, especially with knowing how many maps there are planned, I’ll start throwing my money at the screen.
20 launch maps. Although remember that the count is that high probably because of the remixes and forge maps.
I’m not complaining; that much variety at launch is good but no doubt a lot of people will complain that half the maps are cheaply made.
So hyped for this, all of this info shows 343 is listening to the community. While I was, and still am slightly skeptic on the MP, I trust 343 a lot more with this game. Free DLC, a bunch of new campaign mechanics, music seems to be turning up good, and apparently a MP mode 343 and the players have been wanting (hopefully a giant BTB mode)
well this is the feather in 343s cap, not to play devils advocate though but i wasn’t too impressed with the beta maps and those breakout maps aren’t even really maps. here’s hoping that number isn’t halved by the fact that everything has a remix and that there isn’t a lot of breakout maps.
Gotta give props to 343 for this one. The problem of multiplayer DLC is certainly a large one, and 343 picked the most consumer friendly route. Leaving money on the table for the benefit of the playerbase. Good on you.
