So 343i can disable sprint.

I was just playing lightning CTF and noticed they disabled the sprint. I thought it might be lag so I played another game and once again no sprint.

Discuss.

Well, if they ever do a competitive playlist, now you know they can.

But I can understand why, I’ve messed with player speed settings before, Sprint speed does not increase with the Player Speed, so Sprint in Lightning CTF would probably slow you down.

That may be, but before today you were able to sprint in lightning CTF, and now you can’t.

They also did a live fix today, so maybe that’s something that was added in the last TU that they just started messing with today.

Though a head’s up would have been nice.

Thought this was another thread about that Spartan in a wheelchair…

Also played CTF today. among other gametypes all had sprint.

This was deducible from launch. In Flood, players on the Flood team can’t sprint, so we know that Sprint is a boolean player trait.

If 343i can’t add it to the menus, it’s because Halo 4’s UI is shoddy. It’s definitely not a game engine limitation, because the trait itself already exists.

Insightful.

Player speed is up so you’re moving as fast as you would if you were sprinting. If they kept sprint with this player speed it would seem like everyone had speed boost

I honestly don’t care if they update it in the menus. The least they could do, would be to make some no sprint, perhaps even classic variants and upload them to matchmaking so we could download them. Heck, even just upload them to a 343 fileshare, if they have an aversion to a classic playlist. That way those who want classic/no sprint settings can have them: no UI update needed.

BTW, I’m totally making a CTF as close to classic as I can out if the new Lightning CTF.

I’m very glad they can and did disable sprint in Lightning CTF, I just hope they continue the trend of editing things players don’t have control over, so I can keep downloading them and making new variants. If only they could also make a lightning CTF with no auto pickup and flag drop. And get rid of that stinking waypoint.

If you reset all the player traits then slightly boost player speed, and reduce player gravity slightly, it feels pretty classic. Obviously reduce the speed for the flag carrier. I made the flag carrier do 50% base damage and 500% melee damage. That way the melee is still a one hit kill, while making the guns pretty ineffective.

It’s not a custom option.

I’ve played a few custom games with about 10-12 other people where sprint was disabled though. We also played games of infection (not flood, actual infection) where the infected spawned with gravity hamers and a random weapon. So I don’t know if what they did was exactly legal.

But yes, we’ve known for a while sprint can be disable, it’s just that WE can’t disable it.

Well, I forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder.

Really? I just watched a YouTube video of lightning flag and the guy was sprinting quite a lot

Last I played LCTF I think it was enabled but disabled when carrying the flag. I guess that has changed?

I for one don’t mind sprint. It makes the objective games way more competitive IMHO. And I tried Halo 3 at a friends house a few months ago… felt slow and plodding without that sprint!

From now on, sprint in my opinion should be in halo franchise. Halo 5 in the new xbox will allow bigger maps which with sprint could be more enjoyable.

Remember that sprint should have been part of halo franchise since Halo 2! ( yes bungie had that thought about putting it)

Enjoyable…sure is but…

Don’t forget that a base/spot/area will get crowded faster with sprint.
