So 343 does not have a"baby map"

Going back to Bungie, Blood Gulch was their Baby, which was good. (Blood Gulch, Coagulation, Vallhala, Hemorrhage)

343 started with Ragnarok which everyone thought it was an amazing idea, but they totally lost continuity by not doing it for Halo 5, why that route?

They need to have a symbolic map for the rest of the halos.

Take other companies for example.

  • Epic Games/ The Coalition have Gridlock as their baby map.

  • Treyarch has Nuke Town

  • Nintendo has Final Destination

343i has nothing, come on.

Ragnarok was a remake from Valhalla (Bungie). They couldn’t make it their baby. They could have take maps from Halo 4 and keep going with it, but no map from Halo 5 deserve to be their ‘‘baby’’

There’s Basin. But that was designed and built by a Forger, based on Valhalla.

I can’t wait to see " baby map" the remix…

Should be Skyline if anything.

I don’t know but I would of thought probably Haven was one of their baby maps. They said it was one of the first maps they developed and was kind of a test bed for a lot of other maps they made. It definitely use to come up a lot in rotation in Halo 4.

Halo 4 didn’t have any “great” launch maps IMO (since DLC was rare in MM…any “baby” would have had to have been launch).

I’d welcome an Exile remake in Halo 5. Probably Haven too.

How about Shutout and Ragnarok too…oh wait

we just need more maps in general, Warzone and arena are becoming extremely stale with lack of maps

Haven!

I think Monolith was the most decent map 343 made.

I think Haven was the most iconic Halo 4 launch map. Pretty sure there’s a forge remake floating around somewhere.

Coliseum reminds me of Haven though.

I agree! I feel like the most success for MP games don’t forget their past. Every Unreal Tournament game releases with new and old maps. CS is the same way. So you’ve got the favorites the fans have come to know and love. Then you have new maps which devs can experiment with new ideas. If those idea’s don’t work out, then those maps aren’t carried into the next game.

Aesthetically, sure. In the sense that there is Forerunner metal everywhere. Not in any other way.

I guess I can respect that from a certain standpoint; no sacred cows means they’re not afraid to try something new.

Exile was easily 343’s best btb map - minor tweaks could make it work well with clamber mechanic, especially considering the many jetpack exploits that were built into it.

it was based on blood gulch

the base designs combine aspects of blood gulch and vahalla. Furthermore 343 decribed Basin as a spiritual successor to both maps in the sneak peek for the Battle of Shadow and Light update.
