You really think that don’t you? The thing is Forge and Custom games have ALWAYS had a symbiotic relationship. If Forge is good, customs are good, and vice versa, so far for Infinite the Forge SEEMS good, but the custom game settings as well as just custom games in general are an embarrassment to Halo custom games.
It’s a little bit embarrassing like.
The whole boast for Slipspace engine was that it would allow them to release regular content a lot faster. I am really not seeing it atm.
For a game which also isn’t pushing the graphics or content anyway that’s not good.
While those would be good things, they will not save this game. It needs something big and new. Hopefully Certain Affinity can deliver. It’s pretty much on them now.
343i put themselves in this mess too.
No one asked for a live service, than they go and say oh we have to figure out good work life balance.
They knew ahead dog time that Live Service games usually come with massive crunch times. So the whole Work Life balance should have been figured out before they went into love service mode.
Its almost sounds like 343i is saying look we went into this not knowing what we were doing or what to expect, now be patient while we try to figure ourselves out on this one.
Just seems like they are always cought off guard, like did no one at 343i really look into how the Live Service world works, how to staff for it and how it runs long term. In order to ensure that the game is operational.
The worst part is After How Elden Ring launch it gave me a taste of a fully finished game being launched with all content available and no paywalls.
Elden Ring basically in a sense made Halo Infinite so bad for me.
Like I find myself in the menu of Halo and just back out and to go turn on Elden ring. I’ll spend. Hours just playing around with new weapons and builds.
Than I look at these blog post saying hey man eventually we will have some more of this day 1 content in Halo
Like 343 needs to get their stuff straight
This. Feels like 343 went the live service route just because “other games do it”. Whatever that even means. Without a proper plan, if at all. Or if they had one, it was a bad plan.
Did not play Elden Ring yet. But I am playing Sekiro.
The issue is people don’t know how to solve their own problems.
Take what you need and and activate the exit strategy.
That’s exactly what 343/Microsoft are doing.
Yea Elden Ring is basically Content complete no In game store, no season pass. Just start the game and everything and anything in terms of gear, weapons, skills all Unlockable if you are willing to look for it and beat bosses and enemies.
The crazy part is other Game Devs, mainly EA and Ubisoft we’re beyond salty when reviewers have it ratings from 8/10 to 10/10… They were not picking the crap out of it.
FromSoftware ruffled alot of feathers by releasing a complete game with no Live Service title attached to it Just hey here’s the game go play it.
After that I honestly feel I will be very disappointed with other game releases if they are not content complete day 1. Like Elden Ring has shown me it’s still possible and that I should still have that standard of expectations from all Game Devs.
Well that’s the thing. Delaying these seasons effectively halves the amount of money they can make from Battle Passes. It’s not in their interest at all to delay these seasons and not produce content. So they’re only making things worse for the games finances.
For example they have items in game they could put on the stores. But haven’t and instead cannibalised some of the event/Tenrai armour. They don’t even have enough content to sell. Why go shopping if there’s nothing worth buying?
Well if we had FORGE we would have a crap load of maps by now!
I get that. Forge should be done and there should be community maps in the rotation. But that should be secondary to a healthy rotation of quality maps. We don’t have that now. Why should the community have bail the developers out?
One problem: the BTB maps are too large for 4v4 (I’m not saying that’s necessarily a bad thing, it’s just there aren’t any others to fill the void) . We could play COAG/Valhalla/etc 4v4.
They removed Behemoth from some rotations because it’s so reviled so that’s another gone.
This game was delayed a year and this shallow pool of maps is what was released. They should have delayed another year and fixed the issues and made more maps. It’s inexcusable. But “Priority 0,” or something.
Well about that REF: FORGE!
Bad News First:
Season 3 has been delayed for 3 mos. According to the new roadmap! (encluding Forge )
The Good News!
There will be a “OPEN BETA OF FORGE” when Season 2 releases. According to the new roadmap!.
At least we can screw around with the beta Forge. Would be nice if the had a open beta of a custom game browser to go along with the open beta of Forge: ![]()
Side Note:
Nothing was mentioned about fixing the Custom Game Area ![]()
Inb4 they delay it because another contracted employee leaves
I’m just not engaging with the game for the most part until it reaches a point I find satisfactory. Until then I occasionally chase weekly rewards if I like 'em.
Counterpoint :
Would you rather have 5+ new maps this coming season but still have a broken game?
Because supposedly the 343 dev team is going to be shipping out a wave of fixes at the start of the season update.
So the trade off is either we get a lot of new content but a game that is so full of bugs and glitches that we are mad at the game for not being playable.
Or we receive a couple maps and most of the dev team is focused more on making fixes to many of the problems we are currently facing.
Which would you choose?
Unless the 343 dev team is made up of 4 monkeys working in a closet, both new maps and bug fixes are to be expected.
There is no way the people designing new maps are the same people working on bug fixes.
Also I’ll believe this “wave” of fixes when I see it. Based on 343’s lengthy gaslighting post about lag and the “bad actors” who were geofiltering, I don’t have much confidence that they are actually going to fix the problems.
343 is understaffed right now, if their recent position openings are anything to go by.
So you’re saying it is just 4 monkeys working in a closet?
That’s definitely a management problem.
It boggles my mind that there hasn’t been a change in management at 343. Any business that actually cared about it’s product would have replaced the top management a long time ago. I’m beginning to wonder if 343 is actually a government initiative…
I mean it would be nice if they could accomplish both, but given they have trouble staffing properly I doubt it.
It sucks to say but 343i is not a high caliber development team. They are maybe slightly above a poorly funded Indie developer.
Whatever is going on internally at that place is seriously affecting the quality.
Like why do developers like this sacrifice one thing for another. Like I mentioned before Elden Ring was complete no sacrifices made for large content pool and fairly few bugs.
Most bugs got worked out in the first week. Now it’s just occasional stuff they fix here and there.
343 simply isn’t capable at it’s current state to be handling such a huge IP if they are sacrificing some aspects just to make the game stable.
What you said was basically hey you want your game to work at the bare minimum level, well that means you have to get less content for Halo Infinite to just work at the default level.
The game shouldn’t have been shipped broken in the first place.
It doesn’t matter anymore what happens. The game engine has way too many issues that I’ve lost all interest in wanting to play.
2 new maps won’t do deadly squat for this this beta. You-all are just being trained to accept the crumbs that fall underneath 343’s table. As long as they keep telling you their lies to keep you at ease, you’ll accept it and keep playing no matter how bad things get.
10 years of drip-feed content. Use your head and actually let that reality set in, and try and tell me how "that’s great development from a multi billion dollar company that convinced you a BP/Shop is called a game.
The bar is so freaking low with this community it’s pathetic.
