Snipers on small maps

Greetings all. I know this has probably been brought up.

But what is the point of having Team Snipers on small maps? Are there any large maps in the playlist?
With movement speed being what it is, wouldn’t it make sense to lengthen the playing field?
And do you enjoy it as is?

im not a fan of big maps TBH. I think it takes more skill to snipe on small maps.

Yeah, I remember back in the H2 days, I loved snipers and I loved snipers in H3, but in H2, they didn’t have Snipers on rarely any small maps. Terminal, relic, sanctuary, turf. A few other big maps. Smaller maps were lockout, gemini. I made a post before about how they need to add more game types to MM playlists, and more maps. When you play snipers and get rt mercy 5 times in a row. It’s quite annoying. They need more maps regardless. They can have snipers on small maps but they need more maps. They have oddball, koth, and assault, they need to take out slayer out of arena and add those game types.

On small maps it’s a little more fair, since you can’t really be sniped by someone half way across the map that you couldnt see.

More often than not it will come down to face to face engagements on smaller maps.

I think Snipers on small maps offers more of a challenge and makes the gameplay more dynamic. My experience of playing Snipers on large maps is that the matches tend to be awfully slow contests revolving around who finds the most lopsided obstacle to sit behind.

Think of Snipers as a variant of SWAT.

I haven’t had frame rate issues for a long time. Also I would rather have them and use a weapon as it’s intended to be used rather than on maps where it shouldn’t be used

Yes, sniper rifles play great on small maps, and adds a different layer of skill. Sniper matches on large maps are fun, too. Blood Gulch rocks!

You must have the Xbox one X cus the current xbox def. drops frames on forge maps.

I definitely see that its a different way to play snipers now. I think my problem with the current version is that I have to just play for the snapshot, since people still sprint and charge around corners. Im probably just being nostalgic of the old days on StandOff for example…just wait for some fool to peek out so they can get popped.

Do you feel that having the glint of the rifle changes that? Now you can at least tell where its coming from…

To some extent, however I personally don’t really like the glint.

It would still remain that people would just find camping spots and keep shooting from them, the match would be peek-a-boo with rifles.

I do think though it’s worth a test to see what people would do, you should set up a custom games browser and try it out on larger maps.

I wouldn’t mind the small maps, if I wasn’t getting spawnkilled 75% of the time I spawn in. Also, theres WAY too much clutter (By clutter I mean random pieces of physical geometry) on these maps. Its kinda like its less “whos the best sniper” and more of “who doesn’t get caught on a little chair and causes you to get stuck and become a sitting (pun intended) duck”

Just can’t stand so much hard geometry on these maps messing up shots, strafing, thrusts, melees, charges. Its unnecessary and for me makes the game less fun

Glint, small maps, and forge maps all need to go. I think it’s silly to “level the playing field” against a sniper by having everyone see a solar flare going off when they look at you (even battlefield is guilty of this). It requires one to be more cautious and to work together against a sniper if there’s no glare. Small maps, regardless of how it makes it more challenging, it is similar in nature to how Leslie Knope describes what a calzone is: a harder way to eat pizza; you’re making sniper rifles less fun by throwing it in a CQC map.

Regarding forge maps, I’ve had this complaint since day one: it’s great that the community is being included by having forge maps, keep that in social, stop trying to cut out the middle man of artists and modelers in order to save a buck by calling out forgers to fill the role (forgers, nothing against you, i just like a little bit of bump mapping and detail with my maps).
