The lasers on Adrift were SUPPOSED to be ineffective. With only six precision weapons on the map (two of them in very exposed locations), snipers will dominate the map geometry even more than they do in Infinity slayer.
One case where I wish 343 would have simply decided the community doesn’t know what it needs.

I don’t disagree. Without DMRs on map, the lightrifle really would function as a light power weapon.

lol. I know. I would love to see them be more proactive in participating on the forums and discussing design philosophy.
Like, if they were to say that they are keeping sprint in Legendary because of the current map design and that they don’t want every play list using different physics… people wouldn’t agree necessarily, but at least many of us would feel a little less jilted.

They released a statement regarding the lack of a magnum secondary, and most people I’ve seen have just ignored it and complained anyway.
343- “We decided against including magnums because blah, blah, blah…”

To which people such as myself have been explaining the reason that 343 has stated and have then gone on to explain why we disagree. It obviously won’t get the word out to every person or get us all to agree, but the people that are consistently airing their beliefs will be more informed in how to approach the topic and will feel heard.
I would love to see them do a weekly dev chat where they could discuss design philosophy of hot topics. It requires a thick skin though, and whoever set out to do it would deserve to have their salary increased by an order of magnitude.

That would be awesome.
Mr. Representative would take a LOT of flak though.

The devs get mercilessly abused, but it always made me feel like they were trying to keep the players informed and they even made me come around on a few issues.

The following link is to a developer blog post from when I was playing that won’t necessarily mean anything to you as a Halo player, but you can see the kind of feedback and ideas he is discussing.

This.
I understand the arguments for and against, and my conclusion was that the benefits of Magnums outweigh the drawbacks. Bravo obviously feels differently. But in that case, at least the explanation was provided so that a discussion could be had. Although Magnums are still not in Legendary (and may never be), it makes me feel better knowing that they seriously considered it.
When it comes to the snipers on Adrift, though, nothing like that happened. In fact, there were already more threads complaining about the snipers in the Infinity list - where they’re far more capable of being countered - than there were threads complaining about the Splasers.
So maybe it’s just an incorrect impression, but I don’t get the feeling that the snipers were as well thought through as the Magnums. Furthermore, while I can see the logic in Bravo’s arguments for Magnums (though I disagree, but I suck at the game and he doesn’t, so maybe my opinion isn’t worth much there), I cannot see the logic in the snipers. Lightrifles - absolutely. Railguns with limited ammo - even better. Or grav hammer. Or needlers. Or a sticky det with 2 rounds. Any of those choices would be better than snipers.
I played a Legendary Slayer match on Adrift last night, and it was with Lasers, not Snipers.
The bigger problem to me, though, is simply Adrift itself. I hate it.
It’s just a maze full of mice running without any direction.
People that don’t know it very well are like a bunch of sheep, herding to the center when in doubt.
Somebody has a serious -Yoink!- for Adrift, it is in 11/18 playlists.
You take out Big Team, Grifball, Crimson DLC, and Big Team Skirmish, the map is everywhere!

Its a ring outside an open pit… I would hardly call it a “maze.” And yeah, people not knowing the maps will always cause problems against experienced players.
As for it being in almost every play list, it is one of the bigger maps usable for team slayer, but the long lines of sight and lifts make it play much smaller. The bases are very well set up for defense, as i feel confident thinking the game was originally conceived as a CTF map.
I never did like Snipers on small maps. Never felt right to me, but that’s a minority opinion… most halo fans want sniporz whereherez. Nice to hear people ask to ratchet it down a notch!
> Could someone post a link to Bravo’s explanation about the magnum? I must have missed that one.

> Also I am a little disappointed that they are bringing back the sniper there. I agree the LR or RG would’ve been nicer.
Burst into flames. Burst into flames! BURST INTO FLAMES!
In all seriousness though, I feel like they are too powerful when there are only two ways to approach each of the sniper spawns and four ways to get away. It makes the spawn very campable looking back down the hallways where you have long lines of sight.
