Snipers in montages!

Hey guys Prophet of Ark here! So something I see a lot in Halo 5, montages. Now first off don’t get me wrong its not easy getting high multikills and editing montages takes a long time. However, not pointing fingers at anyone but the sniper in Halo 5 does not take skill. The aim assist I swear is raised to the max. I see montages all the time with snipers and can’t help but think “you didn’t even hit the guy”. I don’t know, watching Halo 5 montages just bugs me. I seen sniper montages of the bullet of the sniper not even hitting that guy because of how the bullet travels but still got the kill.

Are you saying sniping while scoped takes no skill? Or are you saying that no scoping takes no skill? Or both?

Let me speak for him… Scoped sniping in H5 is pretty freaking easy. No-scoping can be easy but it’s a matter of the situation IMO.

That isn’t to say that you can’t pull off some dirty shots in H5 though… you can.

Have you never watched H3 montages?
Players can die by running into the trail of an SRS bolt.

0:45s and 2:48 are just 2 quick examples of H3's sniper having some wonky wiff-hits.

There are a couple doozies, like one on Construct where a player banks a shot past the spawn of 4 players and gets the kill on all 4 but only hit 1 head. The rest ran into the tail trail and died.
When I find it, of course I will post it.

PS, my point is, the server/host for Halo snipers has not been perfect since CE, and that’s LAN only… I would most certainly rather play MCC instead of XboxConnect :slight_smile:
Since H2, there’s a buffer of frame comparisons the server/host must complete on every refresh (tick). Since H2, we’ve had really wonky sniper hits BUT only since H3 could we capture their instances better.

I was watching the UGC open circuit yesterday and I’m seeing Snip3down hit headshots that I’d bet neither you or I would be able to hit in a million years. Some dude running in around in his base or in an open field yeah… easy. Jumping into the air, scoping in, seeing about 3 millimeters of a guy’s head poking out from behind cover for half a second and casually Blaining him into another dimension like it was nothing? No. Anybody can grab a couple kills with the sniper. Sure. It’s a power weapon. They’re basically designed to be free kill weapons. Hence why they are so important to be holding. But you can’t sit there and tell me that it takes no skill. That if I hand a sniper to a gold 3 and a sniper to a pro player, the results are going to be the same…

People can put whatever they want in their montages. Doesn’t make a difference to me.

If you’re going to say that about Sniper Rifles you might as well extend that to every weapon in the game. It’s no secret.

I can see where the both of you are coming from. With the H5 sniper having so much magnetism and aim assist, plus hitscan it makes it very easy to use and I feel that 343 did it so that the newcomers and the average Joe can use it with decent effectiveness (not saying that was a good thing, I’m not a fan of hitscan in general though) HOWEVER, players who know most nooks and crannies of a map or, have very good reflexes and its a warm day (we all know the cold fingers excuse) will often perform considerably better. So in other words being good with a sniper is super easy but being exceptional takes practice.
To me personally skill is not really a thing when it comes to pressing buttons on a controller aka playing a game. That’s easy to learn and just requires muscle memory and reflexes to improve. So lets ignore the word “skill” and just agree that the weapon is easy to use but people can still become better by adding a little more effort.

In montages people can put whatever they want in them, I don’t tend to watch montages so I’m not sure how youtubers, twitchers (is that what you call them?) and DVR peeps title them or whatever, but if I was to make montages, say like a multikill montage, I’d try and have a variety of weapons and methods, once you’re showing the same weapon over and over it somewhat changes into a montage of that weapon. If I was to make a sniper montage it would show primarily snipers and if I was to show ect ect ect What I’m saying in in the second half of this paragraph is mis-titling something bugs me.

Does anyone remenber when H3 was free with gold a long while back and a group on youtube made a gameplay “trailer” to try and get more players and they just made it look like sniper elite future edition. Like I saw hardly anything vehicle and covenant wise, no campaign stuff either. Terrible trailer

What about when the bullet ricochets of a wall/ground/etc and lands a hit on someone?

How does this contribute to the Heavy aim assist that is present in Halo 5? Also your youtube video link doesn’t show up for me so and cant truly see your example. Perhaps give another example if you’re not too busy?

Are you sure that wasn’t just theater mode in halo 5?

My bad, I ment no scoping. Also skill does have a factor however when the bullet literally didn’t hit the player because of the high aim assist I just don’t get excited. Then I’m conflicted because it wasn’t true skill.

And the bullet didn’t hit the player? If not its called luck.
