They add something that the community has wanted back in the game since launch.
They also add something that literally no one asked for.
The Additions of Team Snipers added back a fan favorite modes.
Yay!
The Addition of Team snipers also added modes that are NOT sniper focused.
Boo!
It is so remarkably frustrating,
And its been so PERSISTANT.
343i, adds new features, but in addition to those features, they also add 2-3 ADDITIONAL things that are so frustrating that they completely eliminate that positives of the nice feature.
They Add a new event,
They add playlists to that event that are SO unfun to play that its more frustrating then enjoyable.
They change the challenge system,
But also add challenges that rely completely on RNG to complete.
They ALWAYS add 1 Great thing,
And 5 Terrible things.
What little good the 1 thing adds is rocketed into the ceiling by the immeasurable weight of all the Terrible things added at the same time.
343i,
You keep trying to reinvent the wheel,
Please for the love of god stop.
You don’t… need to add all this other nonsense that no one asked for, and clearly no one wants.
Please, just do a single thing right, and not have it weighed down by 5 other, “Innovations” in getting people to stop playing your game.
Testing the waters with a limited sandbox. People are starving for content, but they only have a limited amount of ingredients to cook meals with. If they replaced Stalker Rifle with Beam Rifle, and added the Binary Rifle, THOSE ARE SNIPERS. Stalker Rifle is a DMR. I don’t know why they have Jackal Snipers in Campaign, but they don’t have Beam Rifles. Probably cut content with the rest of the missing Campaign content. Hopefully they get added soon.
The problem is their “Experiments” are being performed lived.
And, without player agency.
I played Covey Snipes once, and NEVER wanted to play it ever again.
I played Mangler Swat once and never wanted to touch it ever again.
Brute Snipes if… fun.
But like,
I don’t want to play it randomly when Im looking to play Shotty Snipes.
Again, its part of the problem that their experiments spoil the whole basket,
There is a Single fun game mode bundled with a handful of other modes that I never want to experience ever again.
And frankly that’s enough for me the never play the mode ever again.
Given the rate that people are abandoning games, they don’t want to deal with those modes either.
Honestly they need to add some old weapons back into the sandbox.
Infinites weapon sandbox is the worst.
Too many weapons are functionally the same,
And a hand full of major weapons are functionally worthless to most players.
The old Shotgun is pretty Classic.
The old Magnum is also very unique because of its power and limited fire rate.
Loved Snipers in H2, H3 and H5 to death… saw Mint Blitz’ video yesterday and beside of the weapon choices, the glare is a freaking no go. It sucks in MM already but since the sniper is so broken, no one really uses it anyway it isn’t that obvious. But in a snipers only match… puh.
I just don’t get it how 343 thinks these a re good changes when NOONE asked for it.
I like the way Reach did it. Have a consistent stable of playlists that are always there.
Namely: Team slayer, BTB, doubles, swat, snipers, infection, grifball, multi-team, rumble pit / FFA and action sack.
These playlists got semi-frequent dumps of new maps or modes, then there were temporary playlists that were great fun like community map playlist, squad battle, team classic (CE forge maps and settings), BTB all-stars, dlc playlists etc.
If 343 just delivered the classic experience and weighted it as the majority experience it would be much better. For team snipers if they simply removed glare, made snipers and snipers pro (aka with or without pistol secondary) 2/3rds to 3/4ths of the map share then made shotty snipes, skewer snipes, shock rifle snipes and even the stalker if they must, shared among the rest it would resolve all issues.
You can then have your cake and eat it too, the main mode people play the playlist is the majority but then you can experiment with different things on the side that people occasionally play.
Personally I like the Reach veto system, make the popular mode the top vote so if it’s tied or majority it wins, if the mode is fun enough it will get voted for, if it’s not then clearly people don’t want to play it.
Yea the thing is, people are just perplexed as to why the Shock Rifle was dropped in favour of the Stalker. The Stalker is more akin to a beefed up DMR than a Sniper.
The problem with Skewer Snipers is that the secondary is Mangler @.@
With the Skewer being a 1 shot and taking forever to reload, the Mangler is used more to secure kills.
They should’ve just done Skewer Snipers with 300% Reload speed, no secondary.
This has been suggested many times, but here we go … allow people to pick the mode they want to play, that way they make people happy, and they get the benefit of real-time data on what people want. 343 go for it, experiment all you want with game types and if people pick those game types then they are a keeper.
I get the impression that 343 doesn’t give a damn whether the player base is having fun, and at the end of the day, it’s the only way the game will survive, what is it in the DNA of these companies that prohibit them from being good and nice. There are always going to be people that find fault with no matter what, but the overwhelming opinion of Halo Infinite right now is dissatisfaction and even so, 343 shows no sign of modifying their behavior.
