sniper vs focuse rifle

People prefer the Sniper because it can land headshots. I’m sure if the Focus Rifle could land headshots, through shields, everybody would be fighting over it.
The Focus Rifle is pretty much the ultimate support weapon. It chews through shields like they’re pancakes, has that excellent range, but is also good close up.
That said, it really only works as a support weapon: You drain an enemies shields from afar, your buddy in beside them pops out and gets the headshot etc.
The Focus Rifle is purely a support weapon and people who play Halo, for the most part, don’t want to be the support, so it gets ignored.
I think it’s a shoddy replacement for the Beam Rifle

That’s the thing, like all other non-power and non-headshot capable weapons, it’s only a “support” classed weapon because it can’t land a headshot. If another player wasn’t using a headshot capable weapon (or headshots were turned off) then the Focus Rifle would get the kill.

It can get the kill now, it just more efficient, and easier, to let someone else do it. Otherwise, using it to kill a no shields player is just a waste of time and ammo if another player could do it more efficiently/faster.

I actually use the focus rifle more as an assault weapon close up, other than that it is a terrible sniper class weapon. It was a terrible idea to replace the beam rifle. Plus, in experienced hands, the sniper is good at close range as well. Sniper > Focus Rifle.
