I have been playing capture the flag on BTB on Hemmorage a few times, and something really ticks me off. I get the sniper rifle and go to my sniping spot. I admit, I’m not a very good sniper, but I do cut into the traffic going towards my base a bit. My teammates sometimes decide that it’s THEIR turn with the Rifle and kill me to get it. This is really frustrating. I think it may be because I am innefeicent sometimes and don’t snipe targets near our base, because my spot is off to the side and I have no line of sight to our base. Should I pick a different spot? Please help and add a tip or two for better sniping.

It’s not because of anything you’re doing, actually.
There are a lot of very selfish and very obnoxious people in Halo: Reach Matchmaking who believe that the sniper rifle belongs to exclusively to them, and they’ll do anything – even teamkill – to get it. Even if they suck with it. You can compare the phenomenon to kindergarteners refusing to share toys.
There’s not much you can do, primarily since the Betrayal Booting system is unreliable. You probably won’t get a prompt to boot the traitor, but if you try to kill them and get your snipe back, they’ll almost certainly get to boot you. All you can really do is prevent the situation, by entering BTB with a party of friends. The more teammates you bring with you, the lower your chances of getting an obnoxious random.
P.S. Sniping on Hemorrhage can be pretty difficult, since the map is so open. If you’re not being threatened by the enemy sniper (he’s dead, a teammate stole his rifle, etc.), then you can generally rely on the Blue-side cave or the northernmost Coliseum Wall on Red-side. Red-side has quite a few sneaky little places you can wedge yourself into to remain mostly unseen.
Just remember that every time you fire, you’re drawing a line in the air that points right back to you – and if you kill someone, their camera will automatically pan to face your general direction.
I learned to snipe through BTB as well, though it was back in Halo 2. Man I miss ammo cartridges on Coag.
Anyway, you have to put the time into practicing of you ever want to become good. That is the main thing. There are a bunch of little tips like positioning that I could tell you, but they are worthless if you are not willing to put time into Halo to become good.
if that happens to me in any map I would look for a body of water and jump off with the sniper.
