I’m guessing glare was added as a way to offset the power of a sniper rifle in regular play
Here’s some fantastic alternatives
Lower the ammo count on spawn
Place it in a riskier position
Lower the rate of fire
Place less on the map
It’s weird to me that there is a sandbox in Infinite that would have no trouble dealing with the sniper rifle and yet it’s nearly not even in 4v4, has wonky aim mechanics that when mixed with the networking problems and glitchiness makes it beyond annoying to shoot, and this glare mechanic.
That’s the pinnacle of fun isn’t it? a weapon that isn’t fun to shoot or be shot at in a shooter game. An anti-precision mechanic in a game that revolves around aim.
All the glare needs to go. Terrible idea. Does anyone feel like glare was missing from the other halo games? That should be the litmus test for new features. “Is this new feature something that could have benefited the other halo games?” Every 343 dev should ask this to themselves before making pointless changes for the sake of change, like changing oddball, king of the hill, swat, and now snipers.
It doesn’t need to disappear completely but not be as strong as it is now. In Halo 5 the glare was ok and I’m happy it’s back because the Sniper Rifle is already to easy to use in every Halo game and with the glare it adds a extra level of skill to the weapon because now the enemy knows your trying to snipe them. As well it add some protection to those using the Sniper which makes it harder for people to kill you.
Y’all really don’t understand how to use Sniper Rifles effectively and it shows. Why aren’t you repositioning often? Why are you placing yourself in sightlines where people will be looking often? Put yourself adjacent to them, it’s not hard to figure out where your foes might end up.
I think it would be a good idea to give us a slider to adjust the brightness to our liking. They gave us the option to adjust player outline, I don’t see this as any different.
At close range, your entire outline is highlighted in bright red. At distance, you effectively signal where you are with a great big shiny flash… there’s nowhere to hide in this game
In higher level games (diamond and onyx) you have the awareness to know where people will be in a simple 4v4 map. Even if you had a 3.0+ k/d and won most games it doesn’t eliminate how bad glare is.
It’s like saying you should be good enough to play around armour lock. Even if you never fall for it, it’s a bad mechanic that hampers fun, end of.
Sniper glare and armor lock are not really comparable. I actually think the higher the level of play the less impactful sniper glare is one way or the other due to increased awareness and better callouts.
There was already a way to do that, it was called pepper them with shots from a distance so they de-scope and use cover effectively. Halo Infinite has the benefit of spawning weapons that can harass at long range and kill if you have BR spawns.
The only reason Scope Glint is in this game, is because it’s in Call of Duty and Battlefield.
The fact that the S7 glare is so big that you can’t even see the head to land a shot makes it pretty bad. It’s not a huge deal if you’re holding a BR since you’ll de-scope them, but with counter-sniping your shooting at the glare not the Spartan.
