They made this sniper more terrible so it can fit in as a power weapon with their MLG style gameplay
In previous Halo games, the sniper was like a railgun.
Yep.
In previous ones.
This is Halo: Infinite.
Which is a Halo game.
Mhm.
Times have changed.
Sniper has been overpowered trash since Halo 2. Too easy to use. Halo 1 actually required skill and leading your shots.
Change doesn’t mean downgrading.
Sometimes, for the sake of balance, it does.
That is because Halo 4 had bullet-magnetism turned WAY up at launch.
im livid aim-resist is even a thing.
If controllers are gonna have crazy high aim assist at close to mid range at least don’t handicap M+K players at long range.
I’ve turned off aim-assist in every game since it became a selectable option… did 343 add Aim-Assist to the sniper rifle? Because it didn’t have it in previous games.
no there’s aim resist for M&KB
if you’re unscoped the reticle actively pushes away from the target. https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/rrxphd/further_analysis_on_mk_the_noscoped_sniper_has/
It wasn’t a typo for aim assist, I was specifically talking about aim-resist on KBM hip fire sniper.
It actually actively pushes your reticle away from the target, hovering just outside of the target’s hitbox.
Honestly, that might be done to make it a bit more balanced.
Since Halo is one of the shooters that decided to not follow what other games do with sniper weapons (making the bullet go randomly anywhere on your screen if you are not ADS), they might have done that to make cross-play with M&K players a bit more balanced since it is easier to aim with a mouse than a joystick.
So they didn’t want PC players just getting snapshot after snapshot with the sniper rifle.
KBM is already at a disadvantage, this makes it even less balanced.
You’re right that it was done to balance things out but you’re incorrect about the inaccuracy aspect of the rifle when hipfiring to an extent.
Hipfire was nerfed as there’s now a slight spread deviation that makes long range hip firing more difficult than it was.
The intention is that if you do use it at closer range you can still make the shot count.
The biggest issue is that raw aim can be utilized without hinderance on controller in this sitation, but raw aim (which what KBM is) is actively punished.
Strongly disagree about M&K being at a disadvantage, because the only matches I have where my K/D is let’s say 10-20 is when there is a PC player on the enemy team.
M&K players have an easier time with accuracy weapons, especially since a lot of mice let you adjust your mouse sensitivity on the fly with the press of a button on the mouse itself.
And up close and personal an M&K player can spin at whatever speed they want to whereas turning around with joystick controls is agonizingly slow because the maximum settings on joystick speed and aim acceleration still make my character turn around slowly as if they were a real person having to actually go through the motions, whereas within two frames a PC player can whip around to face you; seemingly just teleporting 180-degress to face you. In a game where being backslapped is an instant-kill and you can suddenly just be facing the complete opposite direction within a frame or two, that is a bit game-breaking if you ask me.
The amount of times a back-slap has been denied to me is infuriating.
How do you know that its a pc player? maybe its a console player.
After every match, you can look at the match results while waiting in the menus.

This allows you to view each of the two teams and look at the scoreboard to see who scored best or worst on each team.
If you are looking at a team’s lineup, you can select a specific name and view their player info. After focusing the menu on that specific player, you can then select “View Gamercard”.
Viewing the gamercard on Xbox will pull up the Xbox Gamercard and give you options regarding that player such as “Join party” or “Invite to game” or “Block Player”.
But if you look by their username and profile pic, you can sometimes see an Icon.

The icon displays what device they are using at that moment to access their Xbox Live Account. You can see a mobile device if they are on their Xbox App for phone. And you can see a PC if they are playing through Microsoft Shop/Xbox Gamepass App.
If their profile pic is a small square picture in the circular frame, that is also an indicator of them being a PC player, but through Steam.
You can check every player in the match. If they have no PC Icon, then they are a console player.
depends . If you are on pc and do this you will see a icon for who is on xbox
