Snipedown's thoughts on Infinite's aim assist

“The aim assist in Halo Infinite is less than any other FPS I’ve played, I love it. True aim skill will shine in this game” - Snipedown

I have to say, I agree with him. The aim assist is perfect in this game and true aim skill will shine because of it.

The only problem with the aim assist is it will alienate the social community and name every single game feel like a sweat-fest.

If they make social and competitive playlists with different base settings I would be fine with it. I don’t always feel like playing competitively.

Doesn’t he play on M&K anyway?

No, Controller on PC

If the skill based matchmaking works then you will be against people with similar capabilities to yourself. Only the very top % of players will have god aim.

I think most players, especially for HCS tournaments will play on mouse and keyboard (m&k). They’ve confirmed that open bracket players will play on Xbox Series X and closed bracket players will play on PC. They have the choice of either m&k or controller but like with Fortnite the cast majority of pros will probably play on m&k. There may be a Ghost Aiden type player the controller community can believe in, deliver us with hope.

Yep you’re right, just checked out the screenshot again.

I disagree. I’m pretty decent at FPS games on controller or mouse. Usually get high ranks and pub stomp. It feels terrible. It often feels like my AA just turns off and my aim goes everywhere. On pc with a xbox controller.

I live the low aim assist. I play on a broken controller so I can zoom at all. I’m getting really good at landing perfections cross map from the hip. Always in the top 2 players. It’s so good.

It feels alright with the BR which will be the starting weapon I assume in competitive. I actually find it okay with every weapon except the pistol which is kind of a good thing as it means we can have AR/Pistol starts for social which ironically will be less of a sweat fest as most players cant straight dominate with a pistol now. If a player does get a sniper or a BR, you aren’t defenceless as you can pop them out of scope with the pistol and 2v1 pistols will tear them up.

Aim feels meh currently but that also may be the poor optimization of the build.

Aim feels awful and its gonna be worse if a lot of controller users cant even use something like the Commando in CAMPAIGN

I completely disagree. You might think this but the casual player base and especially new halo fans will be pushed away instantly. They made it free to play, they added sprint but the lack of aim assist will push away new halo players so easily. If the aim assist stays like this until multiplayer eventually comes out, Xbox players won’t stand a chance in any game mode because infinite will have forced crossplay at launch. The aim assist in infinite is lower than any other shooter I have ever played. While I do very much like how the game, with the state aim assist is in, I could never play the real halo infinite multiplayer for more than 5 minutes facing pc players. The game will turn extremely competitive and just not be fun. Not to mention people who use mouse and keyboard literally have an option for bullet magnetism.

I wonder if they altered AA today because my aim has been generally much better today. yesterday I’d be mid duel and then my aim started going everywhere and it felt like I had no AA on any gun I used for a sec. Was weird. Feels a little smoother now

Interesting, I’ll try it out later. I’m in bed right now after covid jab so I can’t try it. Hopefully this doesn’t make the pistol too strong. The pistol to me has felt like it hasn’t had any AA this whole time. Felt like shooting at a team mate in Halo 3.

It’s hilarious in some games how the AA is so strong you can’t target the player you want if another player appears on a specific part of the screen and it completely drags you away.

Commando and sniper are the only weapons that I feel my aim is suffering in. Sniper is basically bugged though and the commando feels about right as the high risk high reward gun although zooming with it does feel bad. Playing around with the deadzone, aim acceleration and sensitivity got me to a good place though. Would recommend turning down deadzones and acceleration and finding a sensitivity that feels right for you. GLHF
