I know there’s already a couple large forum posts out there for the topic regarding smurfs, but this is just insane.
I can’t even play my qualification matches to get into a higher CSR because there are smurf accounts running around. You know they’re smurfs because their accounts are brand new and lower levels.
I like the qualification matches because they guage where you are as a player, but it’s hard to guage your progress when you get unfairly paired with Onyx/champion grade players.
I feel your pain OP. Since this season started I’ve been playing warzone only, it’s not like I played arena a lot, but i played it now and then, but I stop playing it due to smurfs. Last time I was on overgrowth against a full of team of smurfs, neither of them above rank 10 and with an 7.0 kda or beyond, it’s just annoying. I even send a message to those guys asking them why they were smurfing and he just said: playing agaisnt onyx and champions players is boring, we like to play casual.
Ironically, they were sweaty asf, and we lost 50-6. Worst game of my life.

It just happened to me on Regret. I hate that map for the sake of these players camping outside the general map spawns so they can essentially get spawn kills. I just had a player in a match with 30+ kills and was a low rank.
I love the CSR ranking system but really, it’s not fun to play Arena when your placement matches are rigged with players like this.
I don’t get the purpose of smurfing. Are these people scared to play against people of their own skill level? Slaughtering people that can’t hold a candle to you is boring and unimpressive.

It takes away the fun Halo was known for. I like some competition, but this game is a bit too competitive and there’s too many ruthless and unsporting players who have rose to power as a result. Halo had a decent level of Smurfs when Reach came out, but not even comparable to this.

Some people get off on that…
Had this exact discussion with my roommate, we had both encountered it over the previous day or two. I don’t see how it is beneficial since it can lead to bad habits when you go back and play with people of your own “realm”

Regardless of why they do it, it’s highly unsporting and really ruins having fun playing Arena. I used to rank Onyx until these smurfs became more abundant. Now I get stuck in Platinum or below because they ars in the placement matches too much. When I actually gef into matches with Onyx players, I can hold my own.

THIS. Honestly though you can get better playing these jerks or just quit out and play Warzone for 20 minutes and go back in
I didn’t think your numbered rank had anything to do with it. I thought you were matched entirely on your first ten games (win or loss) each season.

The smurf accounts still exist even in the first ten placement matches. I had to stop playing today because I don’t want to get anymore loss matches because of these players
My frustration is that ranked players are matching with unranked players in the placement matches. Onyx and smurf users alike. This is highly unfair for people trying to place themselves in a fair CSR rank
Yeah tell me about it. Thank goodness I was lucky to not get smurfs on my Slayer grind
