Halo 2 was amazing because of proximity voice (forget if it was in Halo 3) so you could trash talk to the other team the entire game and they will hear it.

Well not everyone is as immature I suppose.

Remember when people trash- talked and ot was actually funny? That was a long time ago…

Before The Dark Times, Before The Lame Talk

Yeah man, nothing like sneaking behind someone and telling them to turn around and blasting them with a shotgun just to hear them rage.

Stuff like that was funny as -Yoink-, you felt like you were playing with other people. Not just mutes.

Same experience you get when playing splitscreen and messing with your friends.

Took a shotty to the face last night, guy stands over my corpse and remarks “BOOM SON! Here have a -Yoink!-.” Bags my corpse and runs off.

I didn’t have my mic in, but I laughed. Because, yeah.

I get the sensitivity of bringing one’s mother, et al, into the trash talking tho. There’s a proper way to trash talk and an inappropriate way as well - human decency helps us determine the difference.

Talking trash can be fun, but once is escalates it makes the game not as fun.

The times have changed and the world is a sad place when everyone is supposed to give into the whinings of people who think political correctness is the new world. What a shame…grow thicker skin or get offline.

This so called “trash talk” is very petty and hasn’t bothered me much if at all.

Getting hate mail usually is a clear indication that you kicked that players -Yoink- in game, getting them nice and pissed off at you lol. It’s nothing really though, I honestly think hate messages are hilarious.

Me too

I know man, they can’t talk smack.

Because nobody talks anymore, they’re all in parties.

Sad thing is halos a mature rated game overall so I really don’t see the point in complaining about trash talkers they don’t bother me but I did get a communication ban from Xbox a year back so I tend to not unless someone Elsa starts

> For those who competitively played Halo since Halo 2, when there was no party chat, kids used voice masking, and exploits set the men from the boys (double shooting, BxR, etc), the community was much more brash, in your face, and talked trash regardless what team you were on. And now there’s a topic about crying over some mean messages? I’m sorry, but you’re playing online in a competitive shooter and you don’t expect some trash talk? either play a more casual game like Battlefront or play a more casual mode like Warzone or BTB.

> Anyone ever play any pick up sports? (I know not to compare sports with video games, but both have a competitive team aspect) You talk -Yoink-, but after the game, it’s all good. Yes, I’ll -Yoink!- you, shoot your body, and use every curse word in the book, but after the game, I’ll send a “gg” if it was good game and invite them to a game if they were decent. Made some good partners this way too.

> The worst is when I get hate mail from someone, but they couldn’t say it to me during or after the game since they’re mic was plugged in the entire time. seriously?

> I’m probably in the minority in this because everyone else is in party chat, doesn’t talk in games, or plays casually.
> But if you do play with or against me, I’m actually a really nice guy.

I don’t trash talk but I will bag body punch or shoot if I outplayed someone and except the same when it happens to me. Trash talk doesn’t bother me though

I always just laugh it off cause I know in the back of my mind they have been outplayed

People who were back online during those days built up calluses to endure internet trash talk. All the crybabies and people who claim “harassment” and “feeling triggered” just need to spend a few hours with the old H2 community and toughen up.

This. I loved being able to talk trash during the game. Even just suddenly killing someone and hearing the scream as you killed them and then the t-bagging trash talk with them yelling back… Oh the fun lol
