On Crossfire when players jump in to the map and thier SMS’s are on their back…but why? Is it not more confortable to put it on the thigh, just like the pistol or anyother sidearms? It’s a bit hard to reach a small weapont like SMG on the back.

This is is the first thing that came to mind. When watching this film, and seeing the little smg on the Winter Soldier’s back, not only did I think it looked impractical, but also stupid.
It is a lot bulkier than the old SMG, and I suppose the hip slot is already taken up by the pistol in that particular animation. It kind of makes sense, even if it doesn’t look that great.

The SMG’s on the back during gameplay too, it does look a bit odd…
I’m not quite sure why they would fit a pretty small gun on the back, which is usually reserved for rifles and heavy weapons. Maybe for the sake of making the entry animation in Breakout look cooler than pulling it off the hip?
I feel the same way, SMG on the hip would be better. However, from a game play stand point the SMG is taking on a more primary weapon role rather than a side arm, so it’s placement makes sense in a way.
In the cutscenes for ODST the Rookie always put his SMG on his back so it must not be that uncommon. Also the new SMG is a lot bigger it seems than the original.

I thought I saw a size comparison of the Halo 5 SMG and the H3 SMG and the H3 SMG was longer, if not bigger…

That was with the stock extended, if I’m thinking of the same image, and definitely not to scale. Look at them both in your hands in the games, the H5 one is a lot bulkier.
I thought it looked cool.
I’d prefer the weapons to stick to the lower backs area like in Mass Effect.
Oh well.

And I do as well. The SMG should be stored on the thigh plate as opposed to the back. It is too small, and it is light enough to fit on the leg.

We have two thighs. Reaching down to either one is a lot easier than awkwardly waving your hand around behind your back.
