SMG isn't fun without being dual wielded

Sure, its still practical in Halo 5… but is it fun? Can we at least have the SMG be dual wieldable in Campaign? Having an SMG in Halo not dual wieldable as an option defeats its purpose… when Halo 2 introduced the SMG for the whole point of showing off dual wielding.

Now I predict what will happen is someone will post a reply to my post disagreeing with me and will get like 15 likes or somthing, and then the community will disagree. I can predict forum, youtube hivemind society and mentality. Too predictable :stuck_out_tongue:

I had plenty of fun with the SMG in the beta. The CE AR was basically an SMG anyway, as well.
And seriously? You’re calling people drones simply because they don’t agree with you?

No, dual weilding destroys game balalance and turns it into a one gun game. The SMG was a very powerful weapon in the beta and would have to be heavily modifed for dual wielding. And no keep it out of campigin, idk why everyone thinks its okay to have an unbalanced campaign

not because they disagree, but because the bias of the like system. I don’t have an issue with disagree, I have an issue with likes.

likes / thumbs up result in bias. For example if one post says ‘sprint is good’, and the reply to that post says ‘sprint is bad’. If ‘sprint is bad’ has 14 likes and ‘sprint is good’ has 0 likes. If a person is split down the middle, they will biasly agree with ‘sprint is bad’ because it is the more popular opinion.

I’m all for disagreement. thats the whole point of forums, to discus. But I’m not for bias and hivemind, and the like / thumbs up system found in forums and youtube results in that.

The reason there is no dual wielding is because if there was the SMG would very weak unless you had both guns, if you only had one then the SMG would become usless.

The SMG was heck fun to use in the beta. When the other team has it, you realize it has to be nerfed. But I presume it will be amazing in full game.

Are you mad that you don’t get any likes? Is that it?

What it means is that people don’t agree with what you’re saying. There is no “hivemind” mentality. If all you want is agreement, you’re not going to find that in a forum meant for discussion. Argue your point against the odds, and stop pretending that bias is only based on dislikes.

I have seen many posts that have lots of likes in support of Halo 5 rather than in opposition towards the game.

Halo 5 has been the most fun ive ever had with an SMG. Its actually useful and not a throw away gun.

It really is hivemind mentality opposed to free thought. Once one post gets enough likes, people will like it weather they think about it or not. Its not so much what you are saying but how its said. Any thread you go too. If a post is a paragraph trying to explaina point, all it takes is a member to post a one liner like “no” and they get free likes. Especially if they are a high ranking member with a lot of badges. I keep seeing posts like “good ol ____ to the rescue”, it really is bias towards certain members. I don’t want to name any names though. But I know certain members who are high ranking on this site will get bias likes no matter what they say, especially with one liners.

Oh I know how too, beleive me, when a community is hiveminded, it is too easy. I just need to say the right thing. I’ll make a post later on to demonstrate.

OP I gave you a like just to make you feel better

If dual wielding is a thing again, that just means the SMG has to be super weak by itself or else it’ll be OP with 2 of them. Basically makes the SMG useless like H2

If you can’t dual-wield (which I’m completely fine with) why have the smg at all? I know they’re not completely the same, but isn’t the smg made redundant by the ar? As different as they are they’re still too similar. Same with the forerunner weapons.

Not really no because the SMG tears up at like shotgun range but is kind of crappy outside of this the AR would win outside that range. It is all situational and that is what made the Halo 5 beta fun no one weapon dominated any weapon at all ranges and for once I actually prefered Halo 5 when it was AR starts compared to BR starts and this is the only time I have every prefered Halo in this way all other Halo’s are a bit pants in terms of fairness and fun unless you start with BR off spawn.

Honestly it should be a custom games option as well as weapon tweaking.

I see what you’re saying about the smg being better at extreme close range that the ar, I just think it’s unnecessary.

I agree OP, the SMG isn’t really unique anymore, it’s just a slightly closer ranged AR now that its single wielded only.

People also need to realize that damage output isn’t the only way dual wielding can be balanced either. Single wielded, the SMG could work the way it does now. When dual wielded, it is twice as powerful, but has twice the amount of spread, and disables the use of its scope, which limits it to strictly close range. It isn’t a spawn weapon, so it could be considered a standard map pickup when single wielded while being more of a power weapon when dual wielded.

For people who don’t want to sacrifice grenades and melee, just don’t dual wield. It isn’t a mechanic that the game is forcing anyone to use (cough, Spartan Abilities, cough), and the SMG is still very useful when single wielded.
