Smartscope should go

I was open minded to the idea at first, even excited, but now that I have started playing the beta I know Smartscope has no place in halo. Smartscope ultimately makes the game feel un-halo. Whenever I use it i feel like I’m using ADS in battlefield or something. The original scoping system in the other halos worked fine and with the recent discoveries made about smart scope, it probably worked better. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Let me know what you guys think.

Anyone?

Didn’t Josh Holmes say that if people feel like they have to use ADS all the time because it offers a distinct advantage, they’ve broken the mechanic?

Well if you’re not using ADS in Halo 5 you’re doing it wrong. There is literally no reason not to use ADS unless at extreme close quarters. Offers way too much of an accuracy boost for automatics.

I don’t use it much so I am not going to pass a heavy handed judgement, but so far I like it… ish.

I don’t find it all that different to the old scope system, but I did prefer being that guy who could slow-steady-burst my assault rifle for accuracy, and it is a bit jarring to not be able to do that properly anymore.

yes it should, they call it smart scope so they don’t have to admit to it being ADS when it’s more ADS then it is smartscope, in the other halos smartwcope didny block most of your view woth the gun scope…

I don’t use it much. And I haven’t seen people use it much either. Though people say it shouldn’t improve the spread of a weapon, I disagree on the front of automatic weapons. They have been super useless ever since the BR entered the fray. I welcome the change. Plus, since it doesn’t function like traditional ADS and has descope on top of that, it makes it even more ok in my book. Though, if I were to make changes, I would revert the scope for ranged weapons back to OG Halo visuals but make it look really nice, but keep the Automatic zoom the same.

“If it ain’t broken don’t fix it”…

There was nothing wrong with the previous iteration of the mechanic. Smartscope on the other hand (which is very similar to ADS) offers an accuracy boost, most notable with the automatic weapons. Explain to me how an AR should be as accurate as a BR…

It’s another example of 343 changing or adding something that simply wasn’t necessary in my opinion.

If you think an AR is as accurate as a BR May I suggest you perhaps schedule an appointment with your eye doctor?

I like the aesthetic of it, but otherwise I’m pretty indifferent about it overall. Some people feels like it affects their gameplay negatively, but idk. Personally, it functions no differently than previous scope iterations. If there is a difference, it’s not noticeable enough for me to warrant a full blown dislike of the mechanic.

I actually want an option to revert it back to normal. Classic would offer no advantage or disadvantage. It is going to be aesthetic only.

I actually want to keep the new look but make it optional. In campaign locke gets SS chief gets classic Zoom
No spread decrease just zoom.

No he said if people feel like they HAVE to use SS to gain a kill theyve broken it. Which they havn’t because you do NOT have to constantly use SS to gain a kill. I rarely use it and do just fine. The only time i do use it is for long distance with BR/DMR/LR which is what its for.
The only thing i dislike with SS is the DMR scope, the thickness of the scope blocks a bit too much of the screen
also the fact DE-Scope is in balances the automatics slight “accuracy” boost

I’m fine with it. I use the zoom for ranged weapons (DMR, BR, Pistol, etc.) but pretty much never use it for any of the other weapons.

The fact that descope is present makes it feel totally fine to me. Because if you are hit at all, you pop out of it with any weapon. Distinct difference to say COD or Destiny.

It affects my aim negatively. The gun blocks my view when zoomed. I’m used to having an open screen allowing easy awareness

I love the new zoom keep it coming. Finally you don’t have to be a super uber pro to see and hit far enemies

Actually, this doesn’t sound like a bad idea.

Switch to Recon control settings and it’s liked nothing’s changed (except the Assault rifle has zoom-in now)

Ok, I see

There’s less bullet spread on all weapons when ads… Which means they broke Halo!

No it should not go it should stay right where it is.
