So in wake of the recent announcement of the CSR system, the competitive community has now fixated on the necessity to have in game ranks. Now it seems to me that the description given at this point will not have visible ranks in game, but it does not say whether or not you can view other people’s ranks on Waypoint. If this is possible, this is my vision for the future of ranking in halo 4:
The game loads and while waiting in the veto process, you can look at your computer/tablet/phone and have an up to the date lobby viewer on your phone that shows the ranks of the people in the lobby on both your and the opposing team. When the game ends, the stats screen can also be found on your smart-glass enabled device.
I think this is 343’s logic behind possibly using the integration of XBOX Smart-glass to enhance the ranking system in Halo 4. First of all, Microsoft is pushing Smart-glass, especially with the release of surface and the entire windows 8 platform. I also think by integrating with smart-glass, the classic problems of Halo 3’s deranking and boosting problems. Only people that really care about the ranking system will take the time to download the app, and view their phone before each match.
