Which would you rather see in Halo 5, Smart Scope, or the return of the classic Halo zoom?
EDIT: There is a lot of discussion about Smart Scope and whether it should have been added and if it is [insert adjective here], so what does the community really want? Smart Scope, or beloved classic?
Classic by far. Smart Scope is awful imo doesn’t feel like halo
New scope does not feel halo, also it was a pointless addition for current fans. It’s only purpose was to lure new people in.
It doesn’t bother me although the red dot on the Battle Rifle just looks hideous.
I honestly don’t care if they keep Smart Scope or go classic. It pretty much works the same, and it looks cool, so I don’t mind it staying. And classic is how we’ve always done it, so again, cool with that.
I do like being able to zoom the AR a bit. I didn’t think I would, but I enjoyed it. So … I’m gonna go with … um … Smart Scope. Basically because it looks cool.
While many of you disagree, I think Smart Scope looks cool and should stay. They work exactly the same, why would classic be any different other than a random unrealistic zoom according to physics and accuracy?

Which halo needs terribly. I vote SS. I like it a lot as it makes the S-IVs feel a little different now. I wish it had been in H4. Up until now the only difference between the 3 playable classes of Spartans (not counting Johnson in ODST) were jump height, speed, and shield factors.
I voted Classic…this being said I don’t care if the new “smart scope” is in as long as I have an option to use the “old smart scope” look aka the REAL smart scope IMO if you know anything about the lore
Classic.
With smart scope, it promotes certain weapons to have scopes, even when they shouldn’t have them. Example: the Energy Sword. Why does it need a zoom? Will the shotgun get a zoom too? What’s the point, other than to give it a range buff it doesn’t need?

On weapons like these I kind of imagined it was a byproduct of the Spartans concentrating on the kill, ensuring their actions would bring the demise of their foe.
I dont really care about smart scope, i never used it but im sure others did, and it didnt seem to affect gameplay as much as i thought it would, but having classic would be better.

Sure, halo should get new players. However it should get new players with it’s own charm, not by taking popular factors from other games. It’s not like the smart scope is bad, in fact I think it looks pretty cool, but it doesn’t feel right. I mean halo has had a unique scope since the beginning.
It is also a step back in a technological standpoint in the lore. Why would you go back to having a scope that needs to be raised to your face? The old scope could allow a spartan to hold the gun in any direction while being scoped in because the visor would link directly to the scope.

Smart scope currently makes guns more accurate when zoomed, the classic zoom didn’t do this, it also makes more sense lore wise because the HUD was displaying the view that was from the scopes perspective, instead of looking down it like it is now.

Yes the classic zoom did make weapons more accurate. Go into the MCC and test for yourself.

Mayhaps the increased zoom is a byproduct of the change in arm position? It would make sense that the guns would become more accurate with better GUN fundamentals. When the Spartans have the guns held in better fundamental position the helmets zoom in automatically.

The only game that does is h2a, the actual games in the series(ce- 4 including reach and odst)do no such thing, other than to sniper rifles at long range only, making its effect negligible, unlike now where all the guns are literally better when zoomed.
Classic, of course. SS may not “punish” hip firing, but it tightens weapons’ spread and limits your visibility.

Ergo, punishing hipfire by making scoping more viable to use to try to hit somebody.
There is nothing Smart Scope does that Classic doesn’t do better. And then smartscope actually affects controller layouts as well as automatics, just no

the classic did accuracy buffs like the snipe. by zooming in the reticule stayed the same but it for closer to the enemy so it was easier to hit.
