First off I don’t even see what the point of adding smart scope was, zoom was fine. Secondly, the fact that ALL weapons have it, automatics, and the dramatic accuracy increase it provides for them!
Im going to have to be that guy and say, Halo 4 feels better than Halo 5, by far. Sure, Halo 5 has equal starts (with a weapon that is OP af now), “map control”, and weak -Yoink- Spartans. Remember when 343 mentioned that if players rely too heavily on SMart scope, then they’ve broken the game? Well… Maybe map control and equal starts is not all that makes Halo, Halo.

The AR is ment to be dish out more dps in smart scope, its part of the weapons balance. You cant smart scope under sustained fire, and the movement restrictions are costly in the close range engagements where the gun shines.
And wait did you say the AR is OP? You used the magnum yet? That little thing is a beast. I’m finding the AR a lot harder to get results from atm. If you just run-n-gun spam AR like you would in other halos it takes an eternity to kill.

The AR and SMG currently are said to have bonus headshot damage, so yeah, OP. There are other threads on this, read them for further explanation.

Good thing you’re “that guy” because you’re the ONLY guy who says Halo 4 plays better, because it really doesn’t. Even though it’s just a beta, Halo 5 feels way more fluid and balanced than Halo 4 ever did. Halo 4 felt clunky and slow. Halo 5 goes a lot smoother and easier to adapt to.
As for the “smart scope” it feels pretty stupid to me. I don’t see what is so smart about it. It aims like pretty much every other scope in past halos. It doesn’t auto aim or aim assist and relies entirely on the aiming skills of the player.
So… what is so different about it? It makes the AR more accurate? It’s about damn time I say. I can’t recall how many times I have been screwed because the other guy has a BR and I’m stuck with my default AR only to be head shotted down while my gun’s bullets fire all over the place. I’m glad they tightened it up and made the default weapon more formidable. For too long the AR has hindered players more than helped them.

Exactly what you said. Having a variety of weapons isn’t intended to give people better weapons, just weapons that have other functions that better suit a players play style. The starting weapon should be just as affective in the hands of a player who likes autos as someone who is good with semis. And oh no! The auto rifles have headshot damage? That is so unfair that no other weapon gets that… oh wait.
I’m sorry, but if you think Smart Scope has broken the game, than I don’t think smart scope is the problem here.
Be aware of your surroundings. Upgrade your magnum with BR, or DMR.
Keep enemies positioned away from you. Mow them down after the first shot completely kills their damage output.
Rinse and repeat. Stop going TOWARDS enemies with BRs and pay attention to your radar. If targets are inside the middle circle, or going towards it, BACK UP eithet by moving back or using your thrusters. Or, get the AR out.
Auto aim has gone down, making strafing more effective, especially at close range if there is enough distance between you and the target.
AR and smart scope isnt OP. I’ve killed players with it because they werent aware where I was at, and I’ve killed plenty of AR users trying to use the scope when I was fully aware where they were at, and kept my distance. It has its moments. But so long as YOU do everything you can to not let those moments happen, you can still rock with the BR, DMR, or whatever you want to use.

There are many things I hate about H5 thus far, but really, the biggest, most aggrivating thing next to sprint is definitely smart scope. I cant stand it, and it feels awkward.

Of course they have to be seriously nerfed… It takes some skill out of the game. I’m a big fan of the BR/DMR (precision weapons) and they are still great but at some distances now, if you miss just one shot you can easily be killed by someone paint and spraying with an SMG/AR. I still pick up a BR/DMR when I run near one but I haven’t found myself running to them at spawn like I used to because it’s so much easier to kill with the starting weapon…

see someone else who noticed the lack of a scope on the hand cannon… The only reason you people are mad about it being on each gun is that your Br isn’t the only viable option now

maybe you should try not going close range with precision weapons… Or use that motion sensor and a mic to communicate enemy locations with your team so you don’t get caught out by an ar rushing you

But the statement doesn’t make sense in the first place to defend against.
The claim is that the AR or SMG is being sprayed and prayed while being smart scoped at medium ranges… And the problem appears to be that a DMR or BR can’t no-scope return fire reliably.
That does not compute with the game being played.
The BR and DMR will most definitely down an AR user in a head-on fight when attempting to engage at 20m in the open. An AR or SMG will definitely mow someone down if they are unaware or engaged at 20m. An AR cannot replicate the multiple or speedy kills that a Pistol or BR can give, the SMG takes a LONG while to get 2 kills, and barely 2 kills.

This is your thread, you should explain why a headshot bonus is op on automatics. I simply don’t see it as as a given. Its not like its 1 hit kill to the head like say, um, every other gun.
