Hacking POWER Weapon. The Smart Gun.
Pistol-Like. Resembling a Sticky Det.
It is hitscan, and has a scope function. 6x zoom.
When a player is hit with this weapon, their HUD disappears. This effect wears off either when the weapon’s ability time runs out (30 seconds), or when the player dies. The weapon has one dart/bullet, and does no damage upon firing. However, its ability when a shot connects with a player more than makes up for this.
When a player is hit with the Smart Gun, the reason why their HUD disappears is because it has been downloaded by the player that shot the gun.
Each team’s HUD is connected, i.e. why you can see your teammates location via arrow above their head.
So when your team team fires successfully upon the other, it downloads their information. It will be manipulated to help out your team; Giving you access to where the opposing team is for 30 seconds, along with their service tags (Helpful for avoiding players you know are more skilled).
I believe that this weapon is a better and smarter alternative to Promethean Vision. Players that liked PV will be happy with this weapon, and players that thought it was overpowered will be happy with its new limitations. Overall, it promotes Teamwork and smart gameplay, while also adding a unique new weapon to the sandbox.
Seems highly overpowered to me. So, when someone is hit by this weapon, they lose their HUD - including their targeting reticule, motion sensor and shield indicator - for 30 whole seconds? Not only that, but the entire enemy team shows up on your HUD? Just one of those effects alone, even for just 10 seconds would be deemed overpowered.
This weapon that hacks and downloads will work best in games that have no radar. This automatically reminded me of GRFS, where a downed enemy can be hacked to reveal the opposing team’s location through even walls.
I honestly wouldn’t see the point of such a weapon in Halo, where radar is already very prominent. Unlike most modern games, we are on the radar constantly. It would get annoying if everyone started tagging each other in scope and highlighting everyone from afar. I think Halo is better off with no weapons or abilities that can improve radar. Halo 4 already has increased radar distance as it, compared to the older games…
It is overpowered. It’s a power weapon. Only more supportive than offensive. I would take 30 seconds of no HUD and a chance to still fight to survive over getting blasted by a rocket any day. And 30 seconds of seeing where people are on the map is overpowered too?
- Reduce the ability’s time to 15 seconds if it is deemed “too powerful”.
or
- Have the weapon be placed mid-game, with no respawn, or a very long respawn (As I was thinking originally.
I think that you do not understand the gun.
It is a power weapon. It would spawn as such, and respawn as such. Only, instead of being a directly offensive weapon, it would be a support weapon. It would assist your entire team in knowing where the enemy is for 30 seconds. I think that half a minute is a long enough time to make the weapon useful without making i9t unfair.
Also I don’t think a weapon that just removes HUD would be bad.

Try quoting someone or editing your posts, otherwise it just looks like you are bumping. If you had much more to say, then always do your best to get it out in one post… until someone responds

Sorry, still kinda trying to figure out how to properly use the forums. But I would like to know why you’ve voted no.
Maybe as a power weapon pick-up.
> Maybe as a power weapon pick-up.
I thought I made it quite obvious that it was a power weapon. I guess I did not.
Actually might not be bad as a power weapon. I mean, you could just kill the guy with any other power weapon, instead your spending time hacking him. If the range isn’t too extreme he might even still have a chance to kill you.

Well I was thinking more of an instant hack. You shoot, and since it is hit scan the bullet hits the mark right away. Basically the speed of firing one DMR shot. You can switch to your other weapon right after.

I concur… The OP is clearly a bumper. This technique is rather annoying and is against forum rules.
Just like you wouldn’t call someone who has told one white lie a liar, I find it offensive that you are calling me a bumper when this is the first time I have bumped, and it was by accident. I added a new thread because I completely changed my idea. I am sorry for not using the forums correctly.
Personally, it seems like it would get kind of annoying, not having a HUD but still being alive. And the ability to see the entire team for shooting one guy is a bit overpowered, even by power weapon standards. It also seems useless outside of multiplayer, as Covenant, Prometheans, and Flood don’t have the same HUD-elements as Spartans. But that’s just me.
Smart gun is not really a good name for this. when you say smart gun you make me thing of something that has auto-targeting, homing bullets, air-bust shells, or similar. IF anything I would call i a hacking tool or other name that implies what it actually does.
I might be ok with such a item after the following changes:
- decreased duration (5-15, would need to see it in action.) - 30 seconds is a LONG time in any action game.
- One-time use (no extra shots) - this is a very powerful effect, and having only one shot means you will need to make it count.
- imperfect hacking: locations of enemies (any any other information taken) appears glitchy, so you know their rough location but not EXACTLY where they are. - the problem with PV was it have the exact position, so you could line up head shots or rockets before someone even turns the corner. add to that that thais give your ENTIRE TEAM this ability, and knowing the enemies exact position becomes even more broken, no matter how short the time
- hacked persons hud is not removed but “glitched.” They will still have their crosshair, but they are unable to rely on their radar, ammo count, or know the exact locations of their allies. - having your teams locations, even roughly, revealed to the enemy is already a huge disadvantage. This effectively removes the rest of the hud while at least allowing you to accurately return fire.
- the hack ends immediately if either the hacker OR the person being hacked dies. This adds a way to end the hack quickly at the cost of a point (suicide) and adds risk to the hacker, who cannot kill the person they tagged if they want the full effect. - If this were in play the range and accuracy of the hacking tool, as well as the duration, could be extended, because there would now be viable counters once you have been hacked: kill the hacker, or get killed yourself.
As a canon note, I imagine a spartans armor would be insanely difficult to hack, even directly. These changes reflect that, as the hacking is neither complete nor perfect, but still effective. On top of that the hack would no longer realistically work if either hacker or hacked die. In single player, firefight (if present), etc the duration could be much longer.
I was an idiot and made another post with a bunch of different changes. Sorry about not editing this one, still getting used to things. But I changed the ability to take away the entire enemy team’s motion sensor, while giving your team their arrows. This effect would last between 15-30 seconds if everyone survives, but once one member dies you no longer have their information. More balanced.
> I was an idiot and made another post…
Why do you keep on bumping your thread to force it to the top? Let the forum users determine whether or not your thread is worthy of discussion; as is customary in these forums… And if it’s not, it’ll fade away into obscurity as most threads eventually do (some faster than others)
I think this Smart Gun would be too OP to be introduced into Halo’s multiplayer, however I think it may work well in CoD as a care package (not really sure though I don’t play CoD). Another concern I have is that all of Halo’s weapons have to be introduced in campaign. How do you suppose it would work in a PvE situation?

Seeing as how AA’s will likely be out of the picture come Halo 5, I like how you’re trying to replace PV with a weapon but I don’t think this is the best way to go about it.
