Remember universal sprint? That makes the maps automatically bigger. A medium H3 map would be a small H4 map because of it.

Yeah I know, what I mean is ones without vehicles. I’ll edit my post.
Im not trying to be negative, I love the maps but I just want opinions.

Thank you for agreeing !!! I am more of a competitive style player, I love the whole game but MLG type play is my favorite.
They definitely did not please me in that aspect.
That is why I am hoping for more in the future DLC map packs.
I was expecting it to be an even 5 small and 5 large, but they decided to go with 4 small and 6 large. That definitely feels like a slap in the face. Even more so for maps that could support 2v2. I feel like Abandon and Haven are the only ones that can support 2v2 games, so that pretty much shows how little attention the Doubles community got. I would say that they got the short end of the stick even more than the 4v4 community.
343i states that Complex is a 4v4 map, but it looks to be even bigger than Boardwalk, and that was a damn big map. I can only hope that there are some awesome forged maps put into matchmaking and that the DLC favors the 4v4 community a little more than the BTB community.

DLC will just be 2 BTB maps and a “competitive 4v4 map” that is actually a 6v6 map at least.
Remember, 343 think Condemned is a competitive 4v4 map LOL!
For me forge is perfect for small symmetric maps. I really hope this is the reason why 343i didn’t chose to create more small maps, they knew that the community could make them nearly as good as they could (minus aesthetics).
Otherwise it seems that 343 is trying to push halo into more of a 5v5-6v6 game at its core rather than the traditional 4v4 (I don’t have a problem with this).
My only question is, how does 343 pick up halo and not make a launch 4v4 covenant map. It just doesn’t make sense.

Agreed, even it out and no one can complain.
However, I think the ratio is worse than 6 to 4. 7 to 3 IMO.
Haven and Solace are really the only ones I see as ideal 4v4 maps. Abandon is a good size for 4v4, but it asymmetrical and I don’t think MLG would use it, but who knows I could be wrong. Objective based games like oddball and KOTH would be good according to one of the Devs in the IGN walkthrough.

Having sprint around makes the map smaller. The maps had to be made bigger… New small
>Make Sprint default.
>Make maps larger, even for BTB.
>Larger maps cancel out having sprint by default.
So what’s the point? Over half of the confirmed maps are made for BTB, and 343 considers Complex a 4v4 map. I really feel bad for being tricked by 343 for so long. These maps aren’t made for competitive play in mind, they are made for Little Johnny and his slumber party to drive around vehicles in BTB all night.
> The maps had to be made bigger… New small
That would make sense if the player models were proportionately larger, too.
I thought the new competitive/MLG was going to be 5v5? Not that any other gametype can’t be considered competitive. I never understood that. Sure 4v4 is often more heated, but two teams of BTB trying their best can be very hectic as well.

I have to agree with Stahl here, they even said that most of the maps have vehicles. That’s not a competitive map.

… Saying sprint should have no affect on map design, shows that you don’t really understand the thought process that goes into map design. The size of the map can be measured by how quick you can get from A to B, if you can get from A to B quicker the distance between A and B starts to play smaller.
However many other factors do control the size of a map rather than just ‘square units’, for example I think adrift will play a lot bigger because of its tight corridors and reduced sight lines, if I can’t see from A to C, then C seems very far away from me, even if its right next to me through a wall. So although the area in total is small it plays big. Size is also how a map plays rather than just how much area it has.
So no player models don’t have to get larger the way the models interact with the environment just has to change for large to become small.
